Unless this lojack thing is actually a separate chip from the BIOS chip like a TPM chip, this is so useless. There’s so many loopholes to lojack. If I were a thief and I stole a laptop, here’s what I would do:
1. remove the WLAN card and HDD.
2. flash the BIOS with a custom BIOS
3. swap HDDs and install WLAN card
or use linux. Lojack was designed for mac and Windows, so Windows executables won’t work on Linux.
Too many loop holes, NOT worth it!
These developers of this software probably ignored the fact that the theif can run the laptop on safe mode and perform a recovery on it without even worrying about LoJack being installed. I feel sorry for casual PC users who bought this program and do not know that.
well if you steel, a laptop, the smart thing to do is not hook it up on wi-fi, or the internet, and also whipe the system , with a 35 erase
@kinghoho2 so they say that about the bios. im not to sure about that. we will have to test it out reformat or better yet replace the hard drive and lest see if it works.

lojack’s approval rating is lower than former president bush’s (the last one) ever was. before subscribing to lojack for laptops, RESEARCH it.

hackers praise it for providing bios vulnerabilities which are undetectable by anti-virus software. everyone else criticizes it for it’s extremely low success rate (the “3 out of 4″ rate is absolute’s claim, no one else’s).

seriously. research it before you buy it. it’s a $49/month subscription, so you’d better be damn sure.

WRONG!!! There is no such actions performed. No one is scanning looking for stolen laptops via their Mac address… You shouldn’t misinform the general public who would believe this is a fool proof solution. I have intimate knowledge about this companies operations and can tell you, if it’s too hard or resource consuming, they will take it as a lost! I’m also Cisco certified since 2000, A+, Hubel, Novell, and MCSE certified since 2001~
In this situation u can still be tracked when u connect to ur neighbours unsecured wireless router u will be given a local ip address on that router whih lojack will know so they will know some1 is using the neighbours unsecured wireless and know the theif is somewhere nearby and their exact location can be triangulated with simple wireless scanner scanning for stolen computers wireless cards MAC address
There’s two levels of the program…. One is the bios/software version, the other is just a softy. I can tell you that you CAN disable this system easily with basic knowledge. I had a friend use a laptop that had this installed… Nothing has happened yet! We have connected to the net via unsecured networks found from my living room….. Can’t wait to see if they will raid my neighbors pad!….lol

I have a Compaq Presario. Yeah I know its not the best computer but I put $600 worth of upgrades into it so it’s a pretty decent computer. Anyway I do a lot of traveling for my business and when I was switching planes in Dallas I left my laptop case right outside the stall. (Not the brightest idea). So anyway then I leave the bathroom then 3 minutes later I realized that I left it in the bathroom so I run back to the bathroom as fast as I could and it was gone!

if you sign up for the premium service, it comes with a 1000 dollar guarantee. although its hard to get a decent laptop for under 1k it still is nice, im not sure of there policy, but i know with car insurance if you get into an accident and years later after you drop that company they still have to cover you for the accident because you where insured at the time of it
studies have shown the more “screen real-estate” you have the more productive you are. plus it looks sweet
youngflashyboy914 – acually your wrong it embeds itself into the bio’s and all new computers as of recently lojack is acually already on your computer al you need to do is activate it and pay for subscription , so if computer is stolen it dont matter lojck will reload it self onto the computer
UMM..srryy lowjack is not that good because its a software it can be hack into and not reallly worth it and plus you can format the computer and all of the info is gone i woulnt buy it at all

Resetting the BIOS and reformatting the hard drive will disable Lojack. Lojack is build-in to some computer, but by default is turned off.
this is overriden in mac by doing a clean install while reserving persinal info and programs so its usless for mac
