well i get 8 minutes off the mains then my pro dies & the geeks at the apple store r pissing me off with jargon & shit i dont need to be hearing i dont know who i should introduce to my claw hammer first the geeks @ apple or my battery – what use is a laptop if you cant un-plugg the fucker – my rant

can I disable my running battery while the charger is blug-ed in?
i got the same one. i’ve been through 3 of them in the last two years. apple replaced everyone of them for free. i do not have a warranty and they would rather see a happy customer then to shell out 300-450 in a year on junk hardware. which they have a lot to work on.
2008: 3-4 Hours.
2010: 9-10 Hours.

My 2002 iBook G3 has the battery indicator too
I only get about 2 and a half hours when i’m even trying to keep the brightness down, don’t have very many applications open, don’t have wifi or bluetooth on, and things like that but I still only get about two and a half hours
my macbook pro only last for about 4 hours after it’s fully charged. Is there something wrong with mine? I bought my in Oct. 2009. It last longer when I first bought it but someday a month ago I used it for almost the whole day. It got so hot that it turn itself off for like couple seconds and came right back on. It did that two times. Since then I start to notice that it did not last as long as it used to be. Any suggestion? thanks a bunch.
I have the same problem, but I partially blame myself, because I mistreated my MBP, I had it on AC all the time, and etc. Now my battery health is about 50%, so I think I’m gonna shell out for a new one pretty soon.

I have the non-unibody version of the Macbook Pro that I just got in July of 2008, and my battery only lasts an HOUR. Now are they saying that it lasts for 5 hours if: the display is dimmed all of the way and NOBODY uses any apps on the computer? Because that’s what it seems like

Apple did invent the indicator light’s on the battery..It first appeared in the old ibook and powerbook(these apple laptops are from 2002-3) I still have an ibook g4 witch is about 4-5 years old(I currently use an aluminum 2.4ghz macbook)So apple DID invented this feature and then a few other brands adopted this feature a few years later

i must say that the little lights on the battery that indicate how much is left isn’t a new thing, the dell laptop i’m using at this moment i bought in 2006 and it has some battery level lights on the battery too!
i’m not sure whether apple invented the battery life lights or not but i’d just like to point out that other brands also have them:)

How durable is the MacBook Pro? My iPhone back scratches so eaisly. Also i need advice, I’m going to High School and getting into video and photo editing and game designing. I’m either getting the Dell XPS M1730 or the Macbook Pro. My price limit is $2500.
