Sorry for being pedantic, but I just wanted to clarify – the bezel is the black border around the display, and 720p is not full HD.
Very nice review otherwise.
@1cicc Ok.
I get a little tried of people yelling “Well, it’s a Thinkpad!”, as that has any value nowadays. Let me make one thing clear; Lenovo is NOT IBM and the Lenovo Thinkpad doesn’t even come close to the original IBM Thinkpads when it comes to quality.
you cheeky bastard….
i only have one laptop. lol
@nartin86 In big battles, the frame rate will drop. The processor is a factor, but the graphics capabilities are equally as important. You can definitely run it at low settings, but don’t expect it to be 100% smooth. Ideally, you should run this on a laptop that has dedicated graphics rather than with an integrated chip.
I’m actually replacing this computer sometime within the next year.
Have some questions. I have an i3 vaio E with integrated intel HD and I heard that it’s not possible to play Starcraft II, especially in big online battle with many units. Yours is i5, but I don’t think it makes any difference on gaming since you have the same intel HD. You think mine will be playable? Are you lagging in starcraft II big battles? I’m thinking of buying Starcraft II but worrying that it won’t be able to run even on low settings. I don’t have dedicated graphics card.
Thanks
@nyck26 Hmm. Mine doesn’t have a purple tint.
@speedvaxer Thanx for replying so quickly. It’s pretty hard to chose a good laptop. The beautiful ones are poorly built, the ones with good graphics card get too hot, the ones which run cool have low performance, the ones with good keyboards have low quality displays and so on.
Oh well… I think I’ll just rely on my instinct and try a similar model (TE 15, i5 460m, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, HD 5145). By the way… I’ve just read somewhere that the displays on the new Lenovos have a puple tint. True?
@nyck26 Overall I don’t think this computer fits my needs exactly as I hoped it would. But for someone looking to do business activities on this with some multimedia, it’s a good choice.
@nyck26 I have owned this laptop for about 3 months now, and i can tell you a few things.
-There have been a couple times when my USB ports didn’t work, and I had to restart it.
-More often than I’d like, the screen will begin to dim by itself and the colors would go to a really high contrast setting and the screen itself would look messed up (only on battery power and not on high performance settings)
-Battery life on default battery lasts my about 2-2.5 hours.
-Speakers suck.
Thank you for these videos. Could you tell me if you have any problems or inconveniences with the laptop now that you own it for some time? I’d like to buy one of these for myself.
@Flipty11 If you’re big on battery life you might want to look elsewhere. But as you said, since you’ll be mostly at home working, this will be good.
@andrewsfoot Yea it would still be a good buy.
hey thanks i am probably gonna get the 14″ or 15″ which do u think I should get? It won’t be leaving my home that much (only like once a year on trips). Also, I agree w/ u on the gateway clicker thing, mine completely fell off after like 6 months. lol.
i can only afford this computer refurbished would you still recamend it (i know your buisy but please anser this)
Thanks you very much for the videos you have posted. I had been considering getting a new laptop for a couple of months now. I wanted a thinkpad and your videos really helped me decide to get the same laptop you got.
I must agree with the comments you made on your vids. I am very happy with my purchase.
Thanks again!

You can swap the function keys in the bios so you don’t have to press fn to use f10. This will be the first thing I do when I get my edge, hopefully in September.
