@Zer0megaXX Yup! The R2 has a different chassis than the R1 due to USB slot movement. My guess is that they fixed or a least made the hinges better during this change.

@jhaldin also good thing i had that comp ordered on last saturday beacuse my current comp just kicked the bucket and im typing this from my moms comp atm. so now im really lookin forward to getting one of these.

@jhaldin This review was from August. By december, only 4 months have passed… This isn’t enough time to tell how the laptop’s hardware will turn out in the next few months. They could have changed the old problem, but a new problem could spring up. Its a war against time…

In any kind of light reflection on my matte screen, i cannot see ANYTHING. I’d much rather have a super glossy screen, it also helps with the colors, the “true black” and what not.

@Acaseofchaos I didn’t say it was fixed, but that it probably was. The hinges definitely feel really solid and I use this laptop like crazy. I’m hoping that there aren’t any defects like the hinge on the R1. I’ve been issue free so far, here’s crossing my fingers it stays that way.

@Acaseofchaos I definitely agree it helps with blacks. The worst is really when something is lighting up my shirt while I’m using it. Sometimes it gets bad enough so I can’t see much of anything. (it’s a pretty rare occurrence but still annoys me when it happens)

They use refurbished parts and sets sent in from buy back’s and what not, they say they ensure top quality, if i were you i would contact Alienware you could get it fixed for free, if you still got the warranty.
