Thanks for the video, which one do you prefer?

I noticed at 1:24 the xps 15 has a slight green hue. Can the colour be tweaked in the settings anywhere?

@Vertrin I prefer the Studio XPS 16 a lot more, the only downside is the short battery life, other than that it perform as good as the new XPS15.
Yes, it can be calibrated, the XPS15′s B+RGLED is more yellowish/greenish just like the RGBLED and my calibrated desktop monitor, which is more color accurate. the WLED is whiter.

@MyCinematography A lot better? What makes it a lot better?

I’m not sure how I should build this computer. I want it to have enough power to run programs like after effects, premier pro and Avid, but I don’t want it to eat the battery with power I don’t need. I’m stuck between the i5 3.2ghz, 1 GB video card or the i7 with 2GB video. Just don’t know if I really need to extra power. Any recommendations?

@Weber805 I prefer the sleek body and stylish look of sxps16, the touch sensitive button and slot loading blu-ray drive, the xps15 is bulky and ugly, but perform as good and has longer battery life.
If you want precessing power and battery life, better settle with i5 and 8gb ram, the optimus graphic switching save battery life. my sxps13 with graphic switching last double compare to the the sxps16.
i7 if you don”t mind a shorter battery life.

I do not notice much difference in the video between the B+RGLED of the XPS and the WLED of the SXPS. I heard that Dell uses B+RG to trick people so they think it is RGB, but it is just a WLED. Which one would you recommend
Also, does the fan of the XPS run all the time as it does in the SXPS. I think my i7-720q SXPS is defective as it generates heat with little load and the fan is always on even when idle. Do you think the XPS is better in this regard. Thanks

@tasawoq there is a difference, the b+rgled is more yellowish like the rgbled.

like the SXPS, the XPS fan only run when it’s hot, but a little cooler, I think your unit got problem if it’s running nonstop.

B+GR would suggest that it’s an alternating blue LED with a combination, selectable output green/red LED. Seems like a price compromise between white and RGB LED, which is how it achieves close to RGB LED, but not quite, yet much higher than white LED color gamut. White is on average 40-60% color gamut, RGB is 100-120% color gamut and B+GR is rated at 92, Anandtech tested up to 98%. This is all what I’ve read, and the B+GR theory is what I’ve contrived given what I know of 2-color LED

So there is some truth to the B+RG nameplate. WLED uses a blue LED with a yellow phosphor to make it look white when it’s on. The B+RG uses a blue LED with 2 other phosphors on it that make the appearance of red, and green, and part of the LED is uncoated to allow the blue to come through unchanged. Essentially you’re left with an “imitation” RGB LED display.

@DriftEJ20 I won’t say it’s imitation RGBLED because the name clearly implies a Blue + Red/Green combination, at 92% color gamut I think it’s pretty good although RGBLED’s 118% is better.

What I essentially meant is the name is accurate (though misleading and unexplained anywhere) because the LED is blue, the +RG is like saying a bonus when compared to WLED, which is a misnomer as well since it’s really BLED, which appears white. The term “WLED” has shown that what’s advertised is what’s perceived (white light), but because Dell already has a TRUE RGBLED offering, calling this a 1080p RGBLED panel for just $130 on top would surely be product cannibalization.
