Please let me know how this HP compares to the Sony YB in two criteria:
( 1 ) Quietness
( 2 ) Environmentally friendliness
Environmentally friendliness is most important to me. PVC, chemical free, and so on..Quietness is second most imporant to me. Most people skip the quietness discussion in their reviews, but it’s important to me because I want to enjoy my laptop without having to crank up the system volume to mask the fan noise or to wear ear plugs.
I’ve been using it for a couple of days and it’s great. I did find one glitch. If you touch your finger on the right side of the dispay, you will see a ghost effect of your finger. The same kind of effect when you put a speaker too close to a tube TV. The Lenovo x120e is out and to get the same specs of HP , you have to pay around $650. This after discounts.
Really? You guys do a bunch of tech reviews, but you still use Internet Explorer…yikes. Hit up Chrome or its Canary build
I believe that that dm1z can take up to 8gb of ram not just 4.

For those of you not sure about the waiting period for their HP DM1z to be built, I ordered mine on 2/10 and I got it today 2/21.

Yet another thing: why are you using IE 8 when it’s so well known to be the worst regarding media consumption?
*sigh*
Another thing: Windows Gadgets are well known to be resource hogs. iIf you actually had few things running in the background, CPU utilization would be anywhere from 5-10%.
Great review, but I think you need to revise some of your terminology. This is an ultra-portable, not a netbook.
@vivgman based on released spec n some online review I said Don’t bother with the SONY YB. The specs are SUB PAR compared to HP DM1z. Here’s why: Sony: Weak battery 3600mah (4-5 hrs.) HP: 4400mah (6-7 hrs), sony: weak speaker , HP has better speaker, Sony 32 bit win7 HP:64bit win7, slow hard drive: Sony 5400rpm HP: 7200 rpm. The onyl good thing out of the sony is that it’s prettier looking and the keyboard is lighted.

Correction …the ram and hhd can access by a single latch hidden inside the battery compartment. The whole back lid comes off.
I order this 500gig HHD , 4 gig ram for $495 after discount/coupons. She is right online retails and Frys are charging rip-off prices. I was going to get the SOnt YB Fusion but was disappointed with its hefty price and sub par specs and a weak battery.
