Hi, i had a 2710p a year back which the HDD was so slow and boring, I upgraded to a used 2730p – 2.13GHz and 120GB SSD, I have the slim and normal battery.
My question is, should I upgrade to X201t with 400nit display and core i7-640lm? I find sweet deals and I sure can sell my 2730p for a very good price because it has 3yr accident warranty and SSD. And I really like the Lenovo design.
Should I upgrade to Lenovo for the horsepower or keep 2730p for battery life and compactness?
man, why does the lenovo look like it was made in 1996, seriously. I always judge books, and movies by their covers, and if it weren’t for this video I’d have done the same for the lenovo. They need to make it look more up to date.
@j23145 I’m in med school rite now about 3 months in I finally decided to buy a tablet cause i had sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many sheets of paper…. it literally changed my life… u never need to worry about losing notes, searching through ur folders for that sheet of paper, etc. oh yea i got x201t
onenote 2010 + x201 tablet = so awesome… make sure u get multitouch cause it makes reading notes pdf much more convenient… o yeah i also dropped it a week after i got it.. just like new
@vincentowyong Is the keyboard broke on your CFC1?
The HP is like 2 thousand bux the lenovo is like 1k
Lol…
You know what to do..
I use mostly Microsoft OneNote which is part of the Office suite to take notes in class. You can put powerpoint presentations or pdfs into OneNote and annotate directly on there. It also gives you the possibility or recording audio which is included in the notes and time referenced to the notes you were taking at the time to see exactly what the prof was saying when you wrote something. There are also others which I haven’t used such as EverNote, PDFRevu, etc.
Good luck in pharmacy school!
I am considering the Thinkpad x201 tablet for pharmacy school. I read in one of your reply’s that you use the thinkpad for class. What software do you use? How good is the Thinkpad at taking notes and annotating presentations received from professors?
I HAD INTENTIONS TO BUY HP 2740P……….
i thought the HP 2740P was the best tablet in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
until i tried out the PANASONIC CF C1 TOUGHBOOK TABLET !!!!!!
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON HP 2740P OR LENOVO !!!!!!!!!
PANASONIC CFC1 TOUGHBOOK TABLET IS THE BEST…..period.
I AM REALLY GLAD I BOUGHT MYSELF THE PANASONIC CFC1 TABLET INSTEAD.
every feature of the PANASONIC CFC1 beats the rest….
That wallpaper on the Lenovo scared the crap out of me the first time I set my wallpaper to auto change.
good video. i have the HP TM2.. i seemed so cool but when i got it but now its annoying and slow. The battery i so thick on the back it destroys the whole balance and feel of the machine and the CULV 1.3 G SU7300 processor just annoys the hell out of me.. im now selling it seing lenova on sale now for 1200 its seems like a better deal and whole lot faster
@levelec
Just to give you some feedback on the Lenovo battery life. Browsing the web on Wifi with brightness fairly low (5-7/15) with almost all settings set to maximum battery life will get me about 5:30 to 6h. With brightness at 10-12/15 and inking in OneNote (class) with Wifi OFF I’ll get around 5:30.
Good luck with your purchase!
thanks for the review man. I broke my HP 2710p and was going to buy the 2740p which in the UK cannot be customized
so I’m going with Lenovo this time.
I must say that HP products don’t have great battery life, on the 2710p which is very simialr to its new model it has less than 4 hours of battery life (a new battery) whilst WI-FI is on and in use.
@CueBALL0197 I actually borrowed a friend’s HP tablet to do the video. The Lenovo is mine. I bought the lenovo because I need to be able to get through a 4h class on the battery. This might be possible on the HP but is probably stretching it a little. You would therefore need the extended battery for the HP which brings the weight closer to 5lbs and makes it quite thick. That is one of the main reasons why I got the Lenovo. Other than that both have good screens and builds and similar specs.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I assume you are testing these machines to determine which you’d like to keep. Since it’s been more than a month since this vid was uploaded, my question is which did you choose. I am interested in both and without trying each I’m having some trouble deciding, what were some deciding factors for you?
@phnompenh855 In my case it worked perfectly out of the box. You might want to ask the question on the official Lenovo forum or the TabletPCReview forum and some users may be able to help you with drivers. Good luck and sorry I can’t be of more help!
Hi!
After watching your video review I made up my mind by getting the x201 tablet. I got it today however I am not able to use the multiple with my finger only with stylish. I am sure when I order I have multi-touch option. Is there any software or driver that I need to install to make the multi-touch enable?
Seems like the Lenovo touch (based on all the videos I’ve seen) lags a little compared to the HP. Say you drag an icon or photo or something by touch across the screen, seems like the Lenovo lags slightly more. Is this true in your experience?
good review thank you
@Vesdaris Yes there is a bit of screen hinge wobble. You can check out my x201t review where I discuss it a little bit. I’ve had my hands on a second x201t and that one also wobbles. The HP wobbles quite a bit less than both x201t.
I would guestimate around 5 hours with that type of use in low power mode. Today I got 3h of use so far (including 2h inking with high brightness) and I still have ~3h left (so total ~6h).
Good review, thanx ,man
Did u notice any screen hinge wobble on lenovo?
Also do u have any ideas how much battery life ill get on lenovo in a tablet mode+frequent inking(during classes)
