Laptop Overview (Part 2)
Benchmark Website: www.notebookcheck.net Again, here is the XPS…. Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6Ghz 6 GB RAM Mobility Radeon HD 5730 FHD Screen 9 Cell Battery Black, Leather, Windows 7, etc, etc…. Just a quick look at the graphics hardware and my final opinions, especially on some of the “CONS” that most people describe for this laptop. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes the laptop gets hot, but not enough to make me stop what I am doing in order to let it cool down – In other words, it’s working great! I will show a few more things in the coming weeks, like my favorite programs, websites, and games…including the Prince of Persia (2008). Thanks for Watching!

@robertmsanchez86 Well I haven’t been using the WiFi a whole lot in college just because the dorms are hardwired and I only take it to large lecture classes (just over 1hr long) – but it could easily last a couple of hrs (w. 9 cell) – It probably gets somewhere around 2.5/3hrs
good review! i am thinking of getting this for school what kind of battery life are you getting using the wifi?
@bigmac2468 lol nice review but i must say that comment is quite ironic… as is this one
@Dpr3x I’m sorry, which one of us is spending his time writing pointless comments…..your right, I have no life…..that’s so funny
hey fat boy!! get a life :d
@bigmac2468 ok thank you i just ordered it tuesday im excited first laptop
@zak2395 Sry for getting to this SOOOO LATE…..I was away for the last week with no computer – I have had absolutely no problems with freezing. It has not crashed or anything yet, and it has been about a month now – again sorry for the late answer
Hey please answer this but i heard that this laptop might have freezing problems, can u tell me if u have any because i really like this but am not sure if i should get if it freezes
No problem.
A bit pricey, but a heck of a computer, don’t you say? ha ha
Yeah, you struck gold with the graphics card.
@toonygamer2004 I really could not have done it without the EPP, seriously it was going to be over $2000 without it – plus I got really lucky when they upgraded the graphics card without increasing the price for a few days – I know it was a bit of a major purchase, but thank goodness for graduation parties or I would have never had this thing! lol – thanks for watching!
Great purchase man. That’s a really really good price. ha ha
It’s ridiculous. I have a Dell Studio 1747 with the ATI HD 4650, Core i7, 720, 4GB DDR3, and 320GB HDD for 1100 bucks.
For 400 bucks more, you got that monster of a laptop. I think you did a great
purchase for your first laptop. Expensive though.
It was 1100 even with the employee purchase program.
@randomrazr not too bad….I just recently got back from a trip where I was able to charge it overnight, then use it the following day sporadically without charging it…..it is a powerhouse, so it takes a bit of juice to operate several programs – I would say 2 to 3 hrs while in full use
whats battery life like
@kingofwacky it is a 130W – check your other comment on Part 1
@vitorfray if you use a 130 watt AC adapter and not the 90 watt adapter that comes with it the throttling disappears with the most current bios update (A7 or higher). It throttles due to the laptop needing to draw more than the 90 watts the adapter can put out.
@Taureg96 I am sorry, but I do not have GTA4…..but go to the benchmark website in the description (which I just realized I forgot to put in there, but it is there now) and you can find this and several other laptop cards and benchmarks for several games – i know that the 5730 just barely got 30fps for Crysis on high detail settings – it does not have exact results for GTA4 yet, but it says that it should be higher than 43fps on medium and higher than 25fps on high – hope that helps!
@vitorfray and especially on a 52″ LCD wide screen…..ooohh……ehem, anyways…..I have noticed some problems when everything is maxed out, but it still performs better than anything I have ever had! I will be posting a video of some gameplay, which I would have done in a previous video, but my screen recorder only captured a black screen while playing PoP – I hope this helps and again a video is soon to follow! Thanks for Watching!
@vitorfray I will be frank, I am NOT a hardcore gamer; but I do have Portal, NFS: Most Wanted, Company of Heroes, Sims 2, and the 2008 Prince of Persia on the laptop – I have not played these games for three years because of school and because my desktop graphics card (Nvidia 6200, which, I know is terrible, but I think it is also burnt out) could never play these games (one word, artifacts, everywhere!) PoP is the most demanding game that I have, and it is just B-E-A-UITFUL with this card…..
hey, do you play games?
I’ve been researching about the XPS 16 and found out it has serious throttling issues when demanding applications are used with the power cord connected to the laptop! Is this problem still present in this new XPS 16?
wow, thanks for the overview, I’m buying one this year xD
I’ve never had a laptop either, we’re in the same!
