I have a friend that owns this computer and I really like it. he had a few outdated drivers so I told him to download a free program called drivermax which will let you download the updated drivers that you need but the program will only let you get 2 drivers per day. my friend was able to update his drivers in 3 days due to having 6 outdated ones. theres programs that will charge you 30-40$ to get the updated drivers but this program smacks them in the nuts!

oh sweet as the same! but I now have put windows 7 on it just to let yous guys out their now, I believe it does make a difference as it not only circulates air but it allows the internal cooling system to work better cause they are not so close to the surface & yes the fans are in a good posision.. you can buy them off ebay really cheaapp

@tw1tch09 its good , i own one but i wont recomment it for college, i would say get a business machine so that it would be much more heavy duty than these hp delicate machines.
I don’t think you can upgrade the graphics card in this model dv5-1004ax but yeah I’d think so
my bad 4.0… if u update tje graphics driver… wouldnt it go higher?

I get 4.1 out of Graphics card & often play games on it- Farcry 2 (highly recommend this game), Stranglehold, Test Drive unlimited. I also tweaked my vista & their are vaist improvements
I love it- I also have another Hp (desktop) which I’m rebuilding for fun)
Here are some tips:
I’d recommend getting a cooling pad not only keep your laptop cool to always perform well- but make your laptop on a slight tilt for comfort, so dust what i do is a use a make up brush and go over the whole thing & also i use a microfiber cloth with a bit of “Mr sheen” over the whole thing as well and for the screen what i do is a use a little bit of glass cleaner then it’s like new again
Oh I need a cooling pad too I guess , One question, Mines black same as yours and in the sunlight I can see so much like dust.. And its hard to clean! Any tips on getting rid. Once in darker light they dont show!

And yes no complaints, Onlky one was vista but now ive tweaked and got used to I have no complaints with Vista except the memory hog it takes.
Oh and the Graphic card gives me a 3.8 rating. O well, Im happy.

yes: I’d recommend it’s fantastic for entertainment or whatever it can do just about anything) e.g really good for music(sounds so good prob due to the equalizer) or even games
AMD eats Intel every time. Im thinkin about getting one of these laptops, We’ll see!
Nah so far It’s been the best I’ve ever had, high performer! NO Problems.
