The adapter is the charger. You replace the adopter, you get a brand new charger.
so i can help, i had same problem on my eeepc and only what i did was, shut down PC put battery out , start PC and than go to device manager, in batteries? -> microsoft ACPI-compliant control? method battery -> uninstall, shut down PC, put back battery, and starrt PC, it’s ok!

does the battary light turn on when you plug itin? if not you have to replace your chrager because it might have had damaged i have a dell and i just replaced my charger so don’t waste any money just buy onother charger.
My problem started within the 2 year warrantee so Costco replaced it for me.

its something wrong with the wiring to the battery in the laptop
i have an hp but my battery was being drained slowly. first it would only charge up to 90% then 75% down to 30% and recently it would only charge up to 18% but all of a sudden this morning after a year of frustration it’s back up to 100%.
Since my computer was less than 2 years old, it was under warrantee. Costco replaced the computer with an upgrade.
I have the same problem and nothing will work any ideas
