First Look: Lenovo ThinkPad X220 laptop
ThinkPad X Series brings you a new version of the world’s best-selling ultraportable laptop. Despite its thin profile, the X220 has full-power Intel processors (up to 2nd-generation Core i7) that perform roughly 60 percent faster than competitors running low-voltage CPUs. You also get 9 to 14 hours of battery life with a standard or high-capacity battery and as much as 23 hours using our external battery pack.

Apple doesn`t even own the battery time crown anymore.
Many competitors last much longer…Sony , Lenovo , Asus.
IPS isn`t the best screen anymore either…
Samsung`s PLS screen is much better !
Let’s face it: 16:9 has nothing to do with productivity.
Let’s face it: you can watch video and listen audio just as well on a 16:10 or 4:3 notebook
Let’s face it: the space is there for a 16:10 screen; we don’t need the integrated darthboard aboven and under the screen.
Let’s face it: it kinde looks like an Intertoys notebook with that screen.
But to be honest: IPS, finally!
I have 3 years warranty on my beaten-up lenovo laptop, and Lenovo is evading to have it fixed….
When the Chinese took over Lenovo, you are getting Chinese-type of customer service… you break, you buy… you buy, you keep… you don’t like, you go somewhere else…
Do not want & do not want the tablet version. 4+weeks wait on matte screen. 4+weeks wait on 160GB SSD drive. No way to turn off the annoying screen orientation feature. Finally, 100% price gouging for countries outside USA & a refusal by Lenovo USA to sell to “dirty foreigners”. Don’t want my cash Lenovo, you don’t gety my cash. This “dirty foreigner” is going to buy a shiny new Fujitsu Tablet instead.
@calorus Have
Actually Scratch that – I’m not paying for Windows & a TrackPad I don’t want.
Want.
Is there going to be a X220s?
My dream laptop, to replace my lovely X200s, would be a X220s with HD screen, webcam and WWAN,? with dual storage (HDD plus miniSATA SSD for OS).
@BB0YMatty what did you say ! its design is just perfect
all it needs, is a nice design, a simple one.
X201s is for business, X220 is more optimized for entertainment at the expense of working with bus apps and browsing as it has less vertical screen size and inherently a smaller wrist rest area. X220 has a slight longer battery life but is heavier than X201s. X220 has a webcam, yet I prefer s better separate small webcam for my business needs. X201s wins over x220 in the business community. 16:10 aspect ratio is definitely much more useful than 16:9. .
yeah, yeah, that’s nice and all, but will it blend?
@steitisch It has a 720p HD camera.
@karih83 Ok, ty. But the camera is HD?
Does this have a 1.8 or 2.5″ drive?
Also, I think there will be a void in the market in the near future for high resolution ultraportables, because, AFAIK, the Sony Vaio Z series will be discontinued.
@steitisch Because someone might think it has a FullHD resolution screen, which it doesn’t have. …but it’s not very serious when considering how the media abused / abuses the terms related to high definition in general.
On a slightly related note, I hope Lenovo would make a version of the X220 that had a HD+ or FullHD display. Some might say it’s overkill, but I would definitely go for it.
@karih83 Why is it misleading?
Cool ThinkPad!
“…for full HD video conferencing…” [1:27]
Please don’t use that kind of wording, it’s somewhat misleading.
Never the less, seems like an awesome machine, though I actually would have preferred a slightly higher resolution screen than just 1366x768px.
