It was one of the first laptops to ship using the new AMD Fusion APU. It features an AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 (1.6GHz, 1MB L2 Cache) and an AMD Radeon HD 6310M Discrete-Class Graphics chip for the GPU. This model I purchased from HP came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 3 GB of RAM, a 320 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, a six-cell battery, an 11.6 inch display (1366 x 768 resolution), a Webcam with integrated microphone, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth. It has no internal CD/DVD drive: you need to buy an external, USB-based drive to load CDs or DVDs. Very rarely, and only if it’s something relatively cheap (under $200 or so). Never a? laptop or camera.

It might be a SIM card slot, but it’s definitely not a microSD? card slot. Regardless, this version doesn’t have the hardware to do 3G, so it’s a useless slot no matter what.

Just curious if it is a SIM card? slot or a micro SD in the battery bay?
It’s all about what I get to review. I have good relationships with HP and Dell. Asus and Acer won’t? give me anything to review. I’m not going to go out and buy everything to review it.

Do you have something against Acer – or will they not give you them to review ? , As I notice there are only? certain brands you review – is it just what companies will let you use them ?
My understanding is that Windows key is only functional on another dm1z laptop…so it’s not like anyone can use that key for their own? computer.

the placement of the ether port? is slick though
I am contemplating this as a future purchase but i? actually hate that method of quick release on the bottom.

@Toshiba7571 In the case of a hard drive failure, having a recovery partition won’t help. I always suggest people? make recovery discs or image the drive in some way.

but dude don’t take my full word for it becuz I didnt take peoples word for it but i did do alot of research and watched a few review videos from trusted sources on the web about the dm1 3040 and that made me decide to get this particular mini laptop. Also, I’m korean so my mom watches ALOT, I mean ALOT of korean shows and movies from the internet like for example foreign website movies and tv shows streaming such as interfaces like “Youku” or “Ohcastra” stream super mega smooth with 0% lag and best of all, every video and movie have a HD quality look to it? when its being played. How do I know that? Whenever I check up on how my mom is liking the dm1 3040, I check the video/movie/tv show that she is watching and it looks phenomenal.
tbh Im not sure if it could play high graphic? games on it becuz I bought it for my mom and I never tried a high graphics game on the dm1 3040 myself personally. The only time I tested anything graphics-wise was after I set everything up for my mom to use easily. I tested streaming videos of the internet which was 100% HD quality with 0% lag on every video I tested out so basically if I watched? a 720p youtube video, it would look like I was watching a 1080p video.

I bought the HP Pavilion dm1z 3040 series about couple months ago as a gift to my mom LOL but seriously, this 11.6 inch display (1366 x 768 resolution) notebook is insanely astonishing! Especially with the new AMD Fusion APU, in addition as well you get the AMD Radeon HD 6310M Discrete-Class Graphics chip for the GPU. I live in Canada so the dm1z 3040 model that I purchased included an 640GB hard drive and? a 4 GB DDR3 of RAM…

The m11x is a nice machine, but it’s almost 2x more expensive, has worse battery life, is heavier, and in my opinion, is pretty ugly. I know some people who have them and love them, but that wasn’t a good? solution for me in this case. I bought this laptop for my wife, so an m11x wasn’t in the cards.
