DIY: Laptop running on a cordless drill Battery
boginjr.com A five-year old laptop made “portable” again…. You surely know that Li-Ion batteries won’t hold their charge after two or three years. Why pay 90 EUR for a new battery pack? Just a quick voltmeter setup, a cordless drill battery and we’re off. Just make sure that the battery voltage is over 12V, or else the laptop may behave irrationally. (NOTE The battery used here is a Ni-Cd type, rated 14V 1.2Ah; however the capacity of 1.2 Ah is NOT enough for this setup. You need at least 3-4Ah to do something useful – my battery did last just 30 minutes, the voltage then dropped to 10V and the laptop froze due to undervoltage.)

good job! but if u use the battery circuit? piece it takes less power to do the trick anyway good job dude!!!
simple as? fuck
well yea that can kill it? as well.
Nah. Wine? was spilled on the keyboard.
in other words you ended up frying it.? that’s the problem with laptops they fry to easily, a volt or 2 over and it just kills it..
1.2Ah battery was nothing for that power-hungry beast. I obtained a 7Ah 12volt gel battery, however I’ve tried that setup just a few times, then the? laptop’s mainboard failed…
man that had? a bad voltage drop….but it works.
Yes, of course, so do I.
Actually, this was just a 14V 1Ah battery for a test, so it? did not last long. I’m planning a lead (gel) 12V 8Ah accumulator… It might be quite chunky and heavier than the laptop itself, but it will serve its purpose and last longer than the expensive LiIons…
I prefer lead batteries for UPS with boost converter to 19V. They are hyper-cheap compared with lithium 18650s or replacement packs.?
