I’ve been doing the freezer thing with my Cordless tool batteries for years, With Ni-Cd you just kill them a couple times and they’ll comeback almost new, With Li-Ion if you let it completely discharge, they just don’t want? to charge at all! This absolutely works. I can keep a battery for an extra six months or so by doing this, I’m a contractor and a battery only has a life span of about a year for me, doing this saves me a couple hundred dollars a year.

Thanks for this. I’ll have to try this soon! My mom gets laptops and ALWAYS leaves them plugged in (which destroys the batteries in like a year or two.) I keep tellin’ her to let them discharge from time to time, but some things never seem to change… To those of? you who think cold will somehow destroy things, try wintering in Minnesota. Cell phones get left in cars… yeah, you’re dumb. Electronics thaw and are fine (even better, apparently!)

Only replacement is the solution.

It is possible to hack it by replacing the number of AAA size batteries inside the housing, but it is a dangerous work? because the soldering work may explode a battery. Better replace your laptop battery and avoid problems.
