Just an update for you. Don’t remove the battery cover with a sharp object. Just press down on? the edge where it reads “top” and it pops out with ease.
Tire size conversion chart on cateye instruction sheet or on web? PDF. Eg. 700×23 wheels are 2096 mm
what is the difference between? distance 1 and 2?
You? know – that’s a good idea… I’ve tried to measure one revolution of the wheel by spraying the tire with paint, but never had any luck, but riding a distance – like a measured mile on the highway and doing the math to figure out the right number for your actual tire and the air pressure you inflate it to and your weight would be the way to go. I’ll have to try that.
The other thing I do sometimes if I really want accurate results is I ride a known route of at least moderate distance. (map it out on google maps to get known distance). I then compare the distance the computer shows to the actual distance, and take the percentage difference and apply it to my mm count. ? E.g. wheel setting is 2084, route is 20.12 miles, I ride it and the Cateye says 20.18 miles. I multiply 2084 times 20.12 / 20.18 = new setting of 2077.8 so I set it to 2078.
Thanks very much Brad, you saved me some good time this morning resetting the computer again this year. Like you I? have always been changing once every year or two, just enough to forget it.
One tip is that I always roll the wheel (as suggested by one of the other commenters) rather than rely on the chart. I make sure tire pressure is right and have someone help hold the bike while I sit on it.
Thanks? for the help. You saved me.
Okay,? just saw the last 45 seconds of your video. Thanks!
I am a novice biker and have absolutely no clue on how you guys figure? out this 4 digit wheel size system. I have done google and youtube searches and they have provided no help. Can anyone explain this or send me somewhere to learn this information. I have a basic road bike. Thanks.
Thank you! This? video was awesome and completely helpful—I have been needing to do this for two weeks and I’m pretty adept but wasn’t sure whether to start digging the battery cover out and I was about ready to head into my LBS, so THANK YOU!
If you use? linear interpolation, you get 2130.
hi i have a? 26 wheel with maxxis 2.7 plz can u give me the correct number? ive been told its 2073 is it true?
I was looking for way to remove the battery cover and found your post. I just found it’s easier to remove than what you showed. You don’t need to pry it off . All you need to do is push down on top part with thumb and it flips right out. The rest of your video is? good. Thanks.
i dont know what happen but i cant choose wheel B, help? me plis
Look in the description? – the number doesn’t go by just your wheel diameter, it also goes by the size of the tire on the rim. Look at the 24x numbers and choose yours. Or – roll the wheel one revolution and measure how many mm that is.
what is 20 70 wheel size? If my rims are diameter 24, radius 12 what should? I enter? THANK YOU!
Thanks? for taking the time to make this. Changed my battery and reset everything in less than 5 minutes.
Thanks!!!? this helps…
thanks alot bro you were? very helpfull thanks alot bro
thanks for the video!!

To remove the battery seal cover, push down? on the word “TOP” … per manual. Otherwise, video is good.
Good video…? The only comment I would make is that I would position the transmitter on the front side of the right fork, so that if the transmitter ever gets too close to the spokes it will simply push it away as the wheel turns, as opposed to potentially ripping the transmitter off… And I also opt’d to install the transmitter up high on the fork keeping it as close as possible to the head unit and as far as possible away from the road and dirt…. that’s how I installed mine… works great!
Great post, really helped me! By the way you should measure your actual wheel circumference rather than just reading it off a chart. Lay a tape measure out and align the valve of your front wheel at 0mm. Sit on the bike and push it forward until the valve reaches the bottom again. This is? your measurement. The wheel circumference is affected by your weight and tyre pressure as well as the wheel and tyre size.
Thanks for posting this! It was useful? for me.
