My disassembled 12" PowerBook G4, ready to have the old hard drive taken out and the new one put in. This was way harder than I expected it to be. If I’d looked at the instructions first, I would probably not have ordered the hard drive online, but just sent the damn thing off to Apple battery.

Paul drove all the way from northeast Missouri. He brought a cool setup where he had a 5 watt solar panel, hooked up with this little portable battery unit from WalMart; and he powered his Ham radio system, as well as a laptop battery computer battery.

how did you do the dock?? thats really coooool!
Thanks. Which part were you interested in; the icons, or the 2D effect?
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/imazerart] the 2d effects ! I have been searching for something like that for ages and couldn’t find a way to do that !
There are a few ways of doing this. You should always make a back-up of your computer before doing any of them.
One way is to copy and paste the following Terminal line into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock
Then press enter.
Another way is to install the pref pane ‘Secrets’, and under the Top Secrets category, choose Dock Appearance.
Hope those work!
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/imazerart] thanks so much for this!! it did work out just as i wanted it to be!!thank you!
I’ve added your screenshot to my Creative GeekTool Screenshots From August article applevie.ws/2010/10/creative-geektool-screenshots-from-august/.
I did that to my 12". Put in 100GB. Its one of the scarriest things ive done. Lots of screws to keep track of. I found some good instructions online and was able to do it in about an hour.
It’s easier the second time. Not that I recommend doing it twice, but if you get a new drive 6 months after a new HD… I guess they didn’t do too much to change the insides of the 12" PB from the 12" iBook.
Yup, I actually did have to do it twice, and the 12" PowerBook design is a lot like the 12" iBook design.
A new hard drive is nothing! Try replacing the DC-In board and have to memorize the where all of those cables strung through the inner-frame go.
I try it at school
