Running an Apple battery IIc computer on batteries
The Apple battery IIc was designed to be portable, and since it is powered by 12 to 15 volts DC, it can be run on batteries. A 12-volt sealed lead-acid “gel cell” battery works best, due to the high current draw. I also show the pinout of the IIc’s power supply connector, and demonstrate an unusual BASIC program which generates musical tones on a nearby AM radio, rather than through the computer’s own speaker.

I’ve never seen the IIc battery pack, but I’m sure a Google? search would help answer your questions.
Do you know if the battery clipped onto the bottom of the computer for ease of use, or did it just sit next to the computer or behind it? I assume the LCD screen available for? the computer was black and white an not colour as was the case with a lot of older laptop computers of the time. I’d love to see an Apple Iic with the battery and LCD screen.

Apple did offer the IIc? with a lead-acid battery pack and a non-backlit LCD panel, to turn it into a true portable. But since the IIc was primarily a home and school computer, there was little interest in those expensive options.
