Use a Computer Power Supply For Your Turnigy Battery Charger
This tutorial shows you how to turn your old computer power supply in to a power supply that can provide enough power for your Turnigy charger or any battery charger that accepts a 12 volt input and requires less than about 10 amps. Please be careful when working with these power supplies – if the leads are allowed to short while the power is turned on, you will burn yourself and possibly start a fire. I accept no responsibly for your actions so be careful!

cool video!
Hi,
I have an AT power supply, it was creating 11.43v from the yellow 12v wire. I wired a 12v globe? to one of the black wires and one of the red (5v) wires. I put the multimeter on the 12v and ground wire while the globe was on. it read -12.21 I was wondering why it said negative? and also my lipo charger can handle 12v-17v, would it be ok if I put another globe on the 5v rail? or is one enough already?
cheers
Thanks, It works? Great! Nice Video…
Nice video.
I also have a similar question like others here. Is there a way to get a higher Voltage and higher Amp output? I’d like to have something between 12V and 18V with about 15A, My power supply has 12V-13A, 3.3V-20A and 5V-27A. Max output power 250W. ?
great video. just? what I was looking for. thanks
what about loading up the 5v rail with a? 25w 2 ohm resistor.
I do use one PSU? to charge my LiPo 7.4v / 2000Mha for my Airsfot gun.
There is a easy way my friend, just get a clip conect the green and the black it will start the PSU, and? you can remove the clip, you wont get electruted,no worries
Hi Great inform video, i have a question, how do you no which yellow wire is the 10AMP rail? as the power supply says 12v 10amp and 12v 0.8 amp
thanks
and another question.. the test at the end of your vid. you use one yellow cable (12V) and one Black cable (ground), when you strip more yellow and more black cables.. do you have more? energy (amps or?)? (maybe a stupid question but, its really important if you don’t know!
thanks alot!
I’ve ripped all cabels.. but does it matter which black cable I use to connect with the green? (to put your supply on). or is there only one cable that I can connect? to the green to put my supply on?
nice vid.
thank you?
Thanks!!!?
dawwlers?
thanx for? the help
You can replace the fan. There’s a good chance that without a big load on it the PSU would do fine and not overheat, but you could also buy a quiet powerful 120mm fan(I love the D12Sl-12′s) for a few? dollars and replace the current fan. It will probably be a more powerful fan, and it will definitely be quieter.
Ha, All the tutorials make this sound so complicated, it’s the same as when I converted an atx PSU to run seperate for a water cooling application. RC hobbyists just seemed to make it more complicated seeming.
Thanks? for the simple breakdown to put it back in my head.
would the 12 volts charge a regular? 12 Volt battery?
thanx a? lot for your Help!!
hey, can? PC Power Supply be used as Motorcycle Battery Charger ?
two words: THANK YOU!?
Is? it possible to run the power suplly with the fan turned off?
I already have a pc power supply working for my charger, mas it’s very noisy.
The maximum watt that the power supply reached was 50w, so i think the power supply would stay cool with low power consuption.
@MegaShahidhameed that would be awsome but no? its for lipo chargers
what would happen? if they touched?
awesome,? thank you!
