How to use old PC Power Supply for RC chargers
I took an old power supply from computer battery (400w 16a) and used it to power up my rc charger. This is just my idea, there are many other ways u can come up with to do this.

Better design would be to? use FEMALE plugs or binding posts for the 12V connections… having the male connectors exposed could cause a short, and/or damage them
Those exposed 12v posts look dangerous.? You need something like a binding post instead.

Could you take at look at the video on my page. I did this to a perfectly working power supply form a five year old dell. Followed the steps exact and for some reason have no power coming out of the yellow and black wires. The power supply light is on so? its getting power, just not putting any power out throughout the yellow and black wires…any help would be awesome…thanks

I second what Wolfenion said about the drilling. I also cringe at the use of male plugs as connectors for the output of the supply. You should have used female jacks with the appropriate cable to connect the charger to the supply. Alligator clips are? also not right. You are setting yourself up for a short.

Don’t waste your time modding old PSU’s. Make an adapter? box, so that when the PSU stops working or for whatever reason you need to switch it out, your efforts aren’t lost. Check out my video on the subject.

I have the same problem with my psu sometimes too. From what i have read i think the? psu’s amperage rating is a little to low.
