I built one of his kayaks when he first moved to Bellingham. We became friends during that period and have remained friends. I work for him part time helping out with kayak stuff. He sells a lot of fabric to skin on frame kayak builders worldwide. I’ve got a flickr set devoted to his baidarkas. It has been one of the joys in my life to regularly stop by his shop and find out what sort of thoughts have been passing through his head as he works on assorted projects.
I smell a tribute to the cover of "The Complete Walker." The "before and after" concept is nice. So are the notes.

THe compass is there – to the right of the sunglasses. Waterproff matches are in first aid, along with a scalpel blade. (I also carry a tiny knife now…)
Have you had your Marmot Jacket for a while?
I replaced it last year, with another Marmot jacket. The goretex delaminated in the hood, and the mesh pockets wore through, but that was after at least five hard years of usage. I am definitely a Marmot fan!
