Oh, no kidding! I? did find other reviews, and I actually brought a DVD with me to Chicago to test it when I was out there, and it was –incredibly– washed out. Calling the blacks “dark grey”, which one reviewer did, still seemed like being a bit kind. I ended up going with an ASUS X54C-BBK13 from best buy for $310, and have been very, very happy with it! Typing on it at this moment.
This was my first laptop, I didn’t consider the difference between the matte ‘anti-glare’ vs. the clear/crystal cover type display.
You will be surprised how much clearer and brighter (given the same resolution specs) the crystal display appears.
I am not the first person to notice this ‘washed-out’ quality of the display for this unit: check other? online laptop reviews for the 4530s.
i inserted some RAM? in mine today
basically, when you turn it on you are? presented with windows 7, just like any other computer/ laptop. its nothing really special.
I’ve bought this notebook, but i have intelcore i5, HD webcam and HD Desktop with? bluetooth 3.0, so i am cool
congrat
and what is your opinion? about this computer?
i just bought this probook today..?
2:07 ?????? ?????????? ???????? ??????????? ??????????
I’m puzzled why in this review you never once powered up the machine. I mean, I appreciate your commentary, but feel better actually seeing? it work. As of this moment in time, I’m only convinced its a fancy-looking paperweight!
I tried out a DVD, and man, you were right, the display DOES suck. (I thought maybe everybody was just exaggerating.) I have to wonder if all matte displays are THAT washed out, or if this is a bad model. I mean, LCD TVs are matte, and they have great color! And, this comp? had NO contrast adjustment option! So anyway, I’ll keep looking. As to the price, well, it’s never a great value if you don’t like a pervasive, integral element of the product!
im watching this from hp pavilion g6 and wish i spent a few hundred more dollars and? bought a performance laptop ….
Dude, you are spot on man. I got one and it looks preety matte! As in the display ofcorse. I compare the display to standard? glossy display laptops, it doesn’t look really good. Sure its a high performance laptop, but it does have a washed out color especially on some games. Personally? Doesnt matter! Still preety badass. Hope that helps
Well Lenovo? laptops are usually pretty good. If you don’t mind the glossy screen and don’t need the metal body, this could be the way to go!
You know, I just found a Lenovo at Best Buy with very similar specs (same processor, ram, integrated graphics, video outputs, hard drive, dvd), and a glossy screen? which received compliments! And all for 380 new (the HP is actually 400 new, 340 was for an open box one..) I’m strongly considering it especially because Best Buy is very close to me for replacing purposes, or even waiting for a sale!
Well it’s just as I wrote, the contrasts aren’t great i.e. objects that are supposed to be black are kind of a dark gray. And you have to sit in a specific angle to the screen or the picture quality is degrading (both brightness and color fidelity).
But still, you probably won’t get? a better device for that price.
How strict would you consider your standards? For what purposes is it insufficient? I’m kinda afraid that I’ll try it in the store, and my desire to get a laptop soon for a good price will overwhelm my reservations about the picture. I plan on bringing a? bellydance performance DVD (very colorful costumes) and a space sci-fi (light and dark) to test it out.
Could you describe in more detail? I’m heading to Chicago this weekend, was thinking of picking one of these? up for 340 bucks. But I do want to be able to view pictures and movies. The reputation for the display is the one thing holding me back…though I suppose I’ll get to try it out.
What do you think of the display brightness and colors? Did you get the glossy version or matte? I’m thinking of getting one but keep? reading that the colors are dull, washed out, etc. And I don’t know if it’s just because it’s a matte screen, or if this particular computer is dull.
does it play? well on minecraft
I’m playing this video? on it ^^
I want? a probook……………………
THE? BEST HP BROBOOK 4530s I3
