Wagan 400-Watt Power Dome EX – Power Test One
To order a PowerDome EX you can use this link amzn.to This will be the first in a series of test I will be doing with the 400 Watt inverter function of the Wagan 400-Watt Power Dome EX. In this test I ran a Sony battery Vario Laptop playing a DVD and a Seville Classic Tower Fan on Medium Speed. The Laptop was run with out the battery to insure the results measured the actual power draw. In an actual power outage of course you would not do that. Some additional tests will measure the PC doing various tasks both with and with out the battery, running a DSL modem, running a small television and DVD player and some other ideas I have. This device has a lot going for it, some features include…. * 600 cranking amp auto jump starter * 260 PSI high power motor air compressor * 400 watt AC power inverter, high intensity LED light * Built-in AM/FM radio with iPod™ input * 2 AC Outlets and 1 DC outlets I have used the jump starter and it worked perfectly, we also use the radio feature by our pool and on our decks often. I have used the compressor and it was effective but not stellar, certainly good enough to air up your tire enough to get to better services. I firmly believe that one of these belongs in every car or truck you own. The tests I am doing with the inverter for back up power is really more a nice to have, the main function of this device is to keep you mobile, informed and with lighting on the road. Note that even when the power was to low to run the devices that the light and …

if you take the batery terminals anmd turn it on to jump a car and hook it up tio a external battery you can? bypass the internal battery
enjoyed your video. Just curious if PowerDome Ex is still? working and if you would still recommend this unit.
The first one had had a meltdown when? using the air pump under normal conditions. Started smoking and smelled like something was burning. Replaced the second one b/c the fuse was broken right out of the box – looked like it was partialy metled. Third one seems to be working fine. I still like it b/c of all the features in a compact unit.
Had one? lasted 11 months and battery died
I charge mine every time I change my oil. Last time before I charged it I turned the radio on at a normal volume and? let it play. It ran for 11 days before it got to 50% of the battery life.
did you know also just fyi you can use a wagan solar e panel to charge this unit it only takes a few hours to fully charge the Power Dome fully and its? fairly inexpensive less than $100 bucks and it is obviously a solar panel so it only takes sunlight way cool down fall to it is it is not waterproof
Out last night with my great nephew, admiring how the precious? metal copper jacketed lead flies when thrown properly. When upon our departure the truck would not start, needless to say ordered one today.
I have a similar one and the instirctions say to charge it at least once a month. I have also read reviews where people have said they? have had theirs for over a year and it’s still working fine.
Good question I would like to know? as well.
Hey Jack why dont you tell us if that thing can actually hold a charge for a long period of time. Everything is all fine and dandy when you freshly charge it up? but how much power does that thing hold after riding around in a car for a week, or two? or a month?
I have a device similar to this and where as it works great, for air compressor and jumping off cars the times I have used it as a power inverter have been alot less time than you got out of yours, I? got mine off think geek, and I can say, it does not like the cold, the battery drains quickly and that squeal starts as soon as I turn it on.

Hi Jack. I have a similar version
When the power went out here last summer
I used mine to power a fan all night
It ran for over? 6 hours
No house should be without at least one of these
I’m buying one for myself and? a few others as gifts.
Thanks! I didn’t know that. That’s? really good information.
Jack… Off hand, do you know how many watts the fan is? I have a Xantrex 600? that I like a lot too!
I read a couple of reviews where people had trouble with the unit when trying to jump start a car or truck.? Has anyone else had similar problems?
Yes, jack the ear spilting? sound IS the warning alert that the Wagan is running low on energy. I tried it using a CPAP and the inverted screamed at about 2 hours.
Best wishes.
