REVIEW: Samsung Series 9 Laptop [Part 1]

www.laptopthoughts.com This is part one of a two-part review video of the Samsung Series 9 laptop (900X3A-A02CA). This is a thin and light laptop that goes head to head with the Macbook Air, though it costs a pretty penny doing so. Where to buy is.gd (this is a lesser configuration) It features an Intel Core i5 2537M CPU at 1.4 Ghz (3 MB cache), 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and an Intel GMA HD GPU. The 13.3 inch screen is matte and 1366 x 768 in resolution. There are two 3 watt speakers and SRS 3D sound. The webcam is 1.3 megapixels, and there’s a single microphone under the screen. In addition to 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0, there’s a dongle that, when attached to the side, adds Gigabit Ethernet. Video output is solely mini HDMI (no adaptor is included in the box), and in addition to microphone/headphone jack, there one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port (one is an always-on charging port). Samsung made the interesting – and wrong in my opinion – decision to go with a microSD card slot rather than a full-sized SD card slot. The laptop has an internal, non-removable 6 cell (40 wHR) battery. The laptop is 2.88 pounds (1.31 kg) and measures 12.9″ wide, 8.9″ deep, and between 0.62″ and 0.64″ thick from front to back. Please give the video a thumbs up, subscribe to our channel, and post a channel.

Does it have heating problems? And I know its not for gaming, but let me just ask, what games can? this play? =) Nice review btw
Hey, how did you installed COD4? do you need? to run the image or is it just cracked?
R.I.P?
OH CANADA…..? ABOUUUT 2:20
i have sony and its the biggest crappy thing i have ever used(also a waste of money) while i? have also used samsung which is magnificient thing i have ever used.
and so do? compaq and hp
samsung… their phones their tablets their computers, none? of their products are of good performing quality and none of their products have any effort put into their construction, il never understand how a device made by samsung can show all the “best” specs but… perform like garbage
their soul focus is money, i use to work for them… they manafacture their products with cheap components and thus the cause for their crappy performance. SONY win.
Excellent review of this laptop. Would you or another channel you might know of though be doing a review of the newer i7 processed? Samsung model NP900X3A-B04CA? It must be better better than the i5 system, but I’m curious about benchmarks, battery life, and other such things before I look into buying one.
do you only do samsung laptops?? i am new to this channel
Jason, i would just like to let you know (incase samsung didnt tell you) that when you put it into sleep mode it pretty much powers off, unlike the macbook air, hence it? takes a rather long time to turn on again, but therefore it saves alot of battery life
dude, u installed like 4 seperate different web browsers on this laptop and u expect the laptop to boot in less than what u already got? u have IE, Chrome and Firefox there and each takes a lot of time to load when u boot the system, its always depends on how many programs u installed and the size of them, also if u go to run and type in msconfig then u can disable the useless programs to stop? running on startup.
I think it has something to do with the low voltage processor that this laptop is taking more than 3 seconds to wake up from [hybrid] sleep. I own Samsung QX410-J01 with a Arrandale i5 processor and a Crucial? M4 SSD, and almost all the time laptop wakes up from sleep within 3 seconds.
6:15 Interesting… LOL?
Lenovo just announced a? thin netbook called Lenovo u 300
thanks for the reply Jason. That is encouraging to know… I had been putting off buying this one because of the number of people who had an issue… though it was largely around having a good connection when close to the wifi router, then after 30 feet getting very intermittent and? weak signals… and they were comparing it to their other laptops in the same environment. Also in the states they have several models, there isnt the variety here yet, and I would like 256gb and i7!
Thank you for chiming in Yoda.
Wake up time is part of the experience using the laptop. I got used to opening the Macbook Air and being able to use it right away – it’s a? nice thing. Samsung and Microsoft need to do better.

I used my Canon HF-100, but I did boost the overall gain on the audio by? 6dB in post because I found it to be a bit quiet. I’m surprised you noticed.

Hmm. I honestly didn’t notice any problems with WiFi – and I? ran the Really Refreshing Web browsing test on it at least ten times…so that’s approximately 50 hours of Web surfing. If it would have disconnected, the tests would have failed. So from my perspective, there is no WiFi issue. I didn’t do a lot of typing on it, but when I did type, I didn’t notice an issue with the touchpad. Some people have a knack for palming the touchpad, some don’t.

Hi Jason, nice review, but I dont remember seeing anything about the (very questionable) WiFi issue which has been talked about in forums on the web.
Also? some have big issues typing with the large touchpad…
Did you test either of these things/ have any comment on them?
Thanks,
Mark.
What camera did you use to film this review? I found the sound quality of this review a? bit different to your others.
Thanks,
wake up time does not? performance make.
Hah! I wish. Nope, it went back to Samsung after a? few weeks.

do you get to keep it ? ?
this is a nice alternative to a macbook air but i like the air better
,very good? review as always
