A quick way to fix overheating on this or any “gaming” laptop. Asus cooling design is horrible. The gpu fan won’t start till it hits 70+, then it cools it down to around 50 and it shuts off! Then the cycle starts again, gpu runs hot up to 70+ and the fan kicks in. Even at idle the GPU stays at around 60, that’s HOT. As you can see from the video, I opened the blocked hole underneath the gpu fan and cut the blue fan wire to keep the fan running at all times. This has improved my heating dramatically!! Laptop now runs COOL all the time! I’m happy.

Taken almost a year later a new picture of my bag contents (not included my trusty camera).
In comparison with a year ago i carry less junk.
I still have the same cell-phones (I hate cell-phones…)
I still have my trusty MP3 Player although i carry a different game console.
My always accompanying book is not included because it does not fit my current bag.

One day I installed ther wrong bios version on my laptop so I decided to replace it because it couldn’t be flashed and this is How I repaired the bios chip on my Acer laptop. when bios fails on laptops they can’t be reset. look for my other repairs, like that video when I replaced the video chip on my hp laptop lol

Unlike a lot of photogs out there I don’t have a ton of stuff but this is what I will be bringing with me to the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival this year. What isn’t pictured is the laptop, mouse, mini-powerbar and some other techy things.

it’s a device which purpose is to cancel earth’s rotation in order to have stars appear still while taking long pause astro-photography.
it mainly consist in a hinge parallel with our planete’s pole axis, and a manually driven screw that one would turn slowly.
mine looks complicated because of numerous design tries that I haven’t removed, it even got worse since those three month old shots.
the main original part is the use of a DVcam, pointing to some bright star, displayed on the computer, in order to guide the overall movement. still the guiding is manual (yet).
the laptop computer also triggers the long pause captures, eventually stacking them in real-time thus providing previews of the final shots.
