No problem. Glad you found the video helpful, and thanks for coming? back to leave a kind comment. It’s much appreciated.
Thank you very much, it worked perfectly! Just the first time, the computer gave me the beeps (1 – 4 – 3), which meant there was a RAM-related problem. But I just had to do it again, put the RAM nicely in the socket, and it worked like a charm.
?
Thanks again!
No problem at all, very pleased to hear the video helped.?
You sir are a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks so much for his. Worked like a charm!?
Glad you got it fixed
You have to keep your eye on? the screws on these things friend, as a few of them are slightly different lengths, and thread widths too I believe. The palm rest clips do need a bit of a press as they’re quite tight. I always put the left side down first, making sure it’s clipped down. Then run my hand (pressing quite hard at the same time) all the way across to the right side of the palm rest.
Thanks can recommend. This first time i have had to? do this without there being easy access to the memory and it seems to have worked thanks a lot! Only thing was that 3 of the rear casing screw fixings snapped off at some point as they all were all rattling around when the mother board came out so not sure what I did there. Dont think you need all of them for the rear casing to stay together anyway. The other thing was that one of the clips on silver hand rest next to power light didnt clip.
Standby… New video? coming along shortly for ya
Hello i am stuck at the point of removing the screw on the wireless card. Unfortunately the screwdriver wouldnt catch on this screw and the cross has been stripped and none of my screwdrivers work now. It worked fine on all the other screws on the back but thisone must have been tighter. How would you? suggest removing the stripped wireless card screw. Kind of halts progress! At a bit of a loss ta!
LOL…really? Have to remove everything just to install a RAM slot?
I just bought a tablet for? my mom as a gift, and it turned out she can’t get wifi since she is living a place known as “nowhere.” She can’t use a wifi booster for a tablet, and since she is not used to technology, I had to buy this for her. I wanna upgrade the RAM, so the netbook would run faster. But this job is kinda complicating to me LOL…..
Is this similar in structure to Dell Inspiron 1018 because mine is? Dell 1018.
I had the same problem upgrading it to 2gb aswell, just insert the original RAM back in and it should load up fine again, Ive heard? u need a program to change the RAM in the new Dell series
Sorry? for the late reply Joe, Only just noticed your post mate as I didn’t get a message telling me you’d responded. Anyway.. If you’re getting no output at all from the D-sub port as well as the monitor, It’s a possibility that the GPU is cooked mate
In which case you could be looking at a new motherboard
Thanks for stopping by srmonkey. Congrats? on the new Dell.
Hey I am getting a dell mini 10 tomorrow thank? you for the video really helpful I will be upgrading my ran tomorrow
thanks ?
once again thanks a mill john? man , il do a bit of checking on the screen and see what i dig up. as i know the hard drive is working , ram is fine as new , just screen seems dead and no video output to external monitor. cheers
Hi, sorry to hear about your laptop. I think if the laptop sounds normal, hard drive, fans spin up? etc. I would first check for any weird settings the laptop may have which would effect the displays operation. Then it would be onto things like checking screen connections and wiring etc. Other main laptop issues are to do with heat, as their internal parts do get very hot and can fail over time. Perhaps also ask on the Toshiba forums to see if there’s a common fault?
john pal joe here . cheers for the reply back. i went and bought a 2gb stick of ddr3 ram and stuck it into the toshiba satellite l500-1xl laptop , no joy screen? still blank. the hard drive seems to be running as can hear it and the fan tipping away sweet as a nut. i attached an external monitor to view and not getting any video imput, any ideas?
Hi Joe, Thanks? for stopping by and leaving a comment. Hope all goes well with your new ram.
Cheers
John
fair play man , you have great patients and a very steady hand for detail. there was me going to remove my ram to test a new machine, feck it think il just pop to shop? in morning for stick instead. great vid again…… joe
Heheee.. It could very well be mate
? Thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment.
I’m pretty sure brain surgery is easier than this job. But you did do? a nice job.
Yea I know what you mean, a little memory panel on the rear of the case would have made the job much easier. However I love doing stuff like this so? this was no problem
What the hell, have to dismantle everything just to get the ram slot at the back, stupid Dell R&D? brainless pig.
