ASUS G60VX Gaming NoteBook Heat Mod Fix

A quick way to fix overheating on this or any “gaming” laptop. Asus cooling design is horrible. The gpu fan won’t start till it hits 70+, then it cools it down to around 50 and it shuts off! Then the cycle starts again, gpu runs hot up to 70+ and the fan kicks in. Even at idle the GPU stays at around 60, that’s HOT. As you can see from the video, I opened the blocked hole underneath the gpu fan and cut the blue fan wire to keep the fan running at all times. This has improved my heating dramatically!! Laptop now runs COOL all the time! I’m happy. ![]()

its only plastic , looks like metal , but plastic , fine tooth circle blade , the kind they use to cut out door holes in house doors, as for the crome plastic ring use a pen and push on the? tabs from the inside it will pop them pins out of the holes. also the hole you cut only needs to be the size of the fan blade opening. use 2 part apoxy to put your mest in placeb, reinstall the crome ring add apoxy to the inside were the pins fit back into thre holes , blue wire is ok.not cut.COOL
hi i have seen? that you cut the blue wire
i own an acer with a black, red, grey cables
so i cut the grey cable thinking it was the pmw but nothing happened…any ideas on how i can keep my fan on full
so…. if i cut the blue wire .. my fan speed wil be always? at it max?
Cut the blue wire on my Asus A52Jr and now it continuously cuts itself off. Nothing good happened at? all for me with this mod. It did start helping when I started poking holes into the case underneath the fan. If it starts overheating to 95 C’s..consider the GPU and maybe laptop if CPU is up in the 80′s too..nearly dead. P.S. ALWAYS by a cooler pad if you have a gaming lappy in the Deep South..it will get tested. Need help to keep this thing from cutting off now.
It’s more? of a laptop / design flaw. You seldom get to control the fan of laptop’s GPU, it’s just… made like that usually. I got the same G60vx as in this video, and even in idle it reaches 70*C temperatures! Been planning to do the following procedure soon, but I need the tools to cut through the metal in the casing. I may start by cutting the wire first and see if that does any difference tho’.
hi gamers !
im a fan of videogames but my pc crashed
im participating to the asus boost my pc french event
help me to win a? new super high end computer

So there’s no fan ap for PC to download as an alternative?
What about those pads you can place underneath?
I’d rather not cut the wire, but? I really would like my fan to be running always
Geesh you’d think that this would be an option in windows 7….
Where did you get that? mesh?
could u perhaps make another vid of opening the laptop and how to? reassemble after doing it. scared to do this but so need to..
SONG NAME PLEASE! DERP!?
great modification! did this to my g50v and it brought the heat down about 15 degrees on idle and over 20 when maxing the performance! i didnt cut the blue wire though as i didnt find it necessary. after opening up that vent it made it run much quieter and it is really quite amazing how much it helps!
How i did? this was by taking a drill and cutting holes with that and eventually cut out a circle. Then i took a curved file and shaved everything off that needed to be removed, and bonded wit glue
Someone really needs to answer this question. Because I want to know too.”Is it necessary to have grating cover the hole afterwards? I rarely use my g50v on my lap. It usually just sits on a wooden desk.? Thinking of trying this later, but I have no grating.”
I took off the whole heat sink and reapplied thermal paste and it still runs hot. Funny thing is if I have a big fan blowing right into it then I? can play games.
dude open your laptop to the? gpu niveau and clean it
it will make HUGE difference
No, it is not necessary, just remember that you have? a spinning fan down there.

No? shit! really!?!
i would advise not to cut the blue? wire and instead buy a cooler master notepal u2. the blue wire mod will kill your fans life span. new fan = $40 . cooler master notepal u2 = $20
Hey, I have a G60JX and have done a cooling mod to the lower panel and when you cut the blue wire did you do anything with it like tape the ends with electrical? tape and what not to make sure it didn’t arc in the case?
in some cases like mine just doing that will actually increase the reported temp? for some reason. That is why I’m trying to find out whether there is a reversible way to disconnect the blue wire or find a replacement fan but people don’t seem to have any idea….
Can I just? replace the grate and not do anything with the wiring?
does this also work for asus g73jh??
Hi, I want to remove the blue wire instead of cutting it like some people. Which side do I remove it from the one going into the plug outside or the one inside the fan? Also? is it reversible?
i didnt cut the blue? wire U_U,im affraid to do that!
I cut the blue wire and my fan like surges alot why is this btw its a 4 wire fan red black blue yellow and i cut the blue one and it like surges in? speed
