i brought 4gb of ram (2x2gb)? and if I put both in I get BSOD. Howver if I have one of them in with the default 1gb ram it works
HP says ‘( you can do it) if you feel comfortable doing it yourself, or come in? store’ this was to someone else not me but The problem looks so easily fixed, I just don’t want to end up having to pay for a new laptop if this one breaks because I voided warranty over something small.
My? laptop didn’t wake up from standby mode and now when I turn it on the screen stays black but the caps lock and num lock flash three times then it restarts then they flash constantly ( the ram light is lit orange) HP says it means RAM needs to be reseated. Am I allowed to remove the stickers covering the access ports or will I void warranty?

@zCmcD Not all RAM is compatible in all laptops. You need to identify which RAM is specific to your computer. Go to our website and you can find your specific brand/ model of? computer there, and the right upgrades to go with it.

How do? I make regular backups??
. Your data is stored on your hard drive, not on the memory modules. So long as you take good anti-static precautions,? it is safe to remove and reinstall memory modules without losing any of your data. I recommend you make regular backups of your data, as hard drives often fail.
if I remove my old memory chip, will i lose the data that is in? my computer?
Go to our website, click on HP/Compaq on the left, then click on 500 series notebook, then click on 550.? You’ll see the correct upgrades listed there.
