Honda Pilot Key Repair Battery Replacement (for 2005 Honda Pilot key remote)
Replace the battery in your Honda Pilot Key. Note, this is not about how to program your key. It takes 5 minutes to explain how to do it and 2 minutes to actually do it. You don’t need to program anything. It took my 2005 Honda Pilot keys about 5 years to finally die. I’d suspect these instructions work equally well for other Honda keys, but I’ve only done the Pilot key. You need: -A CR1616 battery (about USD at most drug stores) -a size #0 phillips head screwdriver (I bought one at the hardware store for USD. NOTE–don’t get a plastic one. Be sure that the area where the head seats in the screwdriver is sturdy and metal if available). And that’s it. It takes a modicum of dexterity with the fingers, but otherwise nothing special. Go for it.

No battery in? the remote, that’s classic. Glad this recipe helped save you some dough. It’s another minor YouTube victory.
Thanks for this video. My 2005 Honda Pilot manual specifically states on page 75 that there IS NO BATTERY in the remote! A pair of two CR1616 batteries at WalMart for $7 saved? me a fortune. Thanks again.
Yeah, that’s what I was saying. Sorry for the late reply. That’s my? only idea. If something went wrong, it’s helpful to all the folks who watch this video if you can figure it out and share.
u mean take? it apart and do it all over again?
My initial guess would be that perhaps the battery is upside down? Just? try to repeat the swap process with the same battery (then a new one if it still doesn’t work) and report back with details if you want.
I put a new battery and closed it and it didnt work when I tried to unlock my car? plz help!
I? aim to please, dude. Glad I could help.
Thanks for? posting this! It helped a lot.

Sure–2006. Thx?
You bet. Can you share which model year? your CRV was so people here can know?
Thanks, man. I appreciate? the vid! Works for my CR-V. Thanks again
Right on, you’re very welcome.?
Very helpful. Thank you for? posting
Thank you! My screw? was just about stripped until I read this. Genius idea.
Great to hear the 2008 key worked too. Thanks for sharing that. ? Also the alt screwdriver sizes.
This worked great on my 2008 Pilot key. Local supermarket didn’t have the CR1616 battery, but the jewelry counter at a department store did. My screwdrivers are labeled with metric sizes and my Phillips 2.4mm worked? perfectly and the screw came right out without stripping. Flathead 1.4mm opened the tabs. Thanks for posting this!
perfect!?
hoo-ah! ? thx
you’re a life saver!?

@cadl98 Sounds brilliant, someone? thumb this comment of @Cadl98 up.
People keep stripping out the screw because of the Blue Lock Tight on this small screw…don`t drill it out or try alot of pressure…simply HEAT the metal key with a small torch for a few seconds…the heat transfer to the Lock Tight and softens it or melts? it allowing the small philips screw to come out without stripping…
