Hi, I’m looking for help. I have? a smart ups 750 and i tried to calibrate the new battery without results. My doubd is while unit charging I have to keep the load of 30% -40% on, for example the light in your video. Thank you!
Got the fuse on Ebay. I think? I just searched for RBC7 fuse.
The batteries need to be good for the unit to power on.
Where did you? pick up that square fuse? Also… if the battery is completely dead… will the unit still turn on? mine is not at this time… it was working perfectly before I unplugged it 3 years ago. I went to plug it in and nothing.
das your? server rak pull a 1000w wow!
<3? 3:12 :)
I know this isn’t really related to the topic at hand, but what exactly does that radon detector on the wall actually tell you? What’s its purpose? Rechargeable batteries generally may get warm to the touch when recharging, but from what you say the fact the batteries in your UPS weren’t supposed to get as hot as that? battery did.
I had several of similar 1200VA UPS that were in pretty bad condition.
Now I regret? throwing them out…
@Maxxarcade Is the calibration stored somewhere non-volatile? That is, does the calibration stick? even if the batteries are temporarily disconnected?
And thanks, useful video.
?
Of course not.?
Are you? married?
It’s on? the right side.
Where is the fan in the unit?
Are you referring to the whole rack of stuff, or one particular server? I can’t? say how much has gone into it total, because I’ve built it over the last few years. Mainly using second hand parts.
The serial port is? for monitoring the UPS with the PC.
how much did your? server cost
here? is the serial conection on the back for?
Yep,? sounds like calibration. 20 minutes is about right for a fresh battery and 500w load. After it is charged, let the UPS run on battery (with the 500W load connected), until it shuts off on it’s own. Leave it off, and let it charge on its own until the fan shuts off. It should then be calibrated.
Is it normal as the batt LEDs to start flashing even if the batts are fully charged, power is ON!, and reflector is ON? This happens too. All 3 UPSs behaves the same. Thank you Maxxarcade! Keep in touch! Have a nice? day!
Hello and thank you very much for your answer. I have 3 Smart UPS APC 1500VA. Also I got another pair of 12V 17Ah batts. I calibrated the whole UPSs as you showed in your movie. I used a reflector of 500W. What happens is: UPS on, power connected, reflector of 500W on. Whe I turn on the reflector all the LEDs from batt graph start blinking. After I disconnect the power the? 5 batt LEDs goes off one by one in the first 30s until the last one and keeps there aprox 20min.
I’m pretty sure the blinking just means the batteries are out of calibration. If it runs for a while like that, the batteries are probably OK.? You really need a steady load of 30-50% to get it calibrated.
One more thing. The battery charge graph blinks all the time. If they are fully charged? with no load, they stop blinking. If there will be any load without outlet power AC while discharging the LEDs will blink again. Is this a problem?
Thank you!
