This Macbook Pro 15 i7 A1286 model has noisy fans and the case is heating. This because the fans do not function correctly and this because of dirt on the fans which makes the blades heavy to turn. For better results, you can renew the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU chips and there is a video on youtube to do this.

i don’t think that is really necessary to remove the fan, i mean if you have a a can of air duster it is enough?
You do realize not all laptops are this easy. I have a toshiba that is much easier then this. But even in mac some of the not soo unibodies you’ll have to take off a lot more screws to get to the? fan’s… So yes nice tip but not all laptops are that easy…

Actually it wasn’t just the dust but there were dirts on the vents that look like heavy cotton! and this? will block the air beside the greeze on the fan blades will make them heavy and harder to spin. There was a difference in number of times the fans to turn on and the noise from the fans cause they were spinning harder than usual.
It’s been about 1.5 year since it purchase date and first time. The dirt on vents will depend on the place you use your laptop. Thanks

My fans were harder to clean with a toothbrush, since my blades were different, and there was a plastic ring thing, making? it it hard to access the blades.

I like the taking out the fans so you can blow the? dust? from the inside out with the air can, but disassembling the whole fan….too much work…”

Doesn’t matter which? fan. (if you disconnect them it’s fine! Can play as much as you want with them
When cleaning them or? inspecting them, fix them either with tape or hold them tight whilst using a vacuum cleaner/dust blower/canned air (pay close attention to which kind you bought, some contain fluids that must not be sprayed on electronic parts!)
Is it okay to use a? vacuum cleaner aswell?
I’ve done everything in this video except opening up the fans to clean the blades more directly.? I’ll try that now.

Ahh ty for this. Took me forever just to find a simple fan removal video on this model. I had so much crap layered on the? fan grills from the inside (the part you don’t remove but that you see once you remove the fans) that I had to literally lift it with the tweezers cause it was a solid chunk. Compressed air did nothing but compact it more lol.
