I have an? acer laptop exactly like yours so I’ll know how to replace the HD now.
Only problem is that I’m not sure if I have to buy a specific hard drive or just buy the exact same HD I had in the first place. What do you suggest?
Nice video, I have a question:
I would like to replace the current HDD in my laptop with a new, bigger one (due to lack of space). Would I have to purchase new copies of windows 7 and? microsoft home and student?
Windows 7 was installed on the laptop when I purchased it, so I think it’s OEM?
Thanks!
ok i have done and? encountered everything in your video. I also attempted with the disc made once turned on but not working. what should i do next?
Hmm, I tried switching a used hard drive from a Dell Inspiron 1545 to put into my acer aspire 5750 and everything went fine except that most of my drivers wont install coming up with code 28, it was a x32 version of windows so I’m going to try a x64? to see if anything changes, please message me, I would really like some help with this.
can this laptop model hold 2 harddrives??
can you be more? specific regarding your model?
why is there static in your video? lol
5742ZG. Got all lowest settings, the textures on CoD even blends into eachother and I still? lag. and in Diablo3 I can’t handle a party using alot of spell effects
you? must remove all the screws + keyboard
when you open the RAM bay, you’ll see 2 metal bars holding it. Press them forth so they release the cards and you can? now replace them again
sorry but you can’t. The? graphics card was solded directly into the motherboard
model? mine is? 5742g-484, runs 60 fps with vsync enabled in WoW, with good texturing and average settings. it heats a lot, though. But it’s not a problem for me
Watching? this video before going to buy a new hard drive saved me $150 in installation charges. $150 to unscrew and screw a few screws. I feel really cool about it too. The salesman said something like “Are you sure you’re going to be able to do something like that yourself?” in a condescending tone.
I kind of felt bad for him, but only for a moment.
I like my laptop, Acer Aspire 5742, when i first bought it, was running like a dream, then I installed football manager 2009, it ran fine for a while, then started to heat up rather quickly, untill it turned off, then restarted, i thought nothing of it, then a few weeks later, my laptop out of the blue just kept rebooting? it’s self over and over, my hard drive failed, so had to get a new hard drive, and a new copy of windows 7, because the key on the bottom of the laptop was all faded out,
omg this pc is so horrible,? mine overheats after 15mins of playing WoW on Lowest graphics!
and even on lowest I still stay on like 20 fps max.
And I can’t even play any other game like Call of duty, not even playable because of the fps.
I’ve done so many things with this computer and all increase in performance just makes it overheat faster!
Regret I bought this pc
Gracias, muy útil y claro,? incluso sin saber inglés
hii, i have a 5742G and i have a question can i change the? graphics card?? sorry for bad english ;s

new processor? u serious? -_-
?
Thanks bro.

Hey! I just found out that my computer I rent from my school has a 2gig ram card, and I get that PC now in June for my own use. So I thank you for showing me where I could find the RAM on this pc model. But Im no computer expert, and I have never done it before so could you make a video of that? Also, I want to clean my fan as my PC gets hot alot. Thanks for the help though, and it would be great if you could help me out even? more!
Hi? there. I have exactly the same laptop as you, and I want to access the fan, but don’t know how to. Any tips? Thanks.
Some videos on youtube crack me up. Replacing a hard drive – when the hdd cover has two screws on the back of the chassis? – yeah, that’s uh, hard.
Now, having to tear down an Acer aspire with the hard drive at the bottom of the chassis with no backplate, well, that’s a bit harder.
Thanks for putting up the video though
Hey, is the hard drive a standard 2.5″ one?
My laptop is screwed completely, because I dropped mine on a hard? floor also. It wont boot at all. I’m thinking of getting an enclosure for the hard drive to see if I can save my files I have on it (I’m hoping the hard drive isn’t broken)
Thank you for this video! My hard? drive failed and this will help me save a lot for labor costs. I just wish I can still retrieve my files from the old hdd.
