hey i have a question, if the connection(purple light) comes on and off an sometimes stays on then goes back off an on (when nothing is around it, like it will stay charging for sometimes a? good 10min-hr , varies) an then purple/pink light goes off, is it the battery , power jack or the ac adapter?Thanks! I also have a gateway MX series.

that’s a tough one. I would have to take a look at it to see for sure, but it doesn’t happen when you jiggle the wire in the power jack, I can only assume it’s the mobo or slim chance it is? a battery.

mine is making me mad,sometimes when it starts and only the screen saver comes up,and sometimes it comes up with the internet and all that crap…but when i click on internet explorer…its does nothing at all….when i click on anything at all it just? shows the loading symbol…but there is no way in hell is should take over 1 min to load…i sat at my computer for hours…never comes up…can you help?

wow…i just googled gateway power jack problems and I see the exact looking labtop in this video.? my power port on my gateway mt3705 is completely burned and melted. my power adapter is fine. my labtop is still functioning but everytime i plug in my power adapter to use my labtop i can feel that the plug is overheating and would likely burn again…..any advice?

I have a Gateway MT6541 laptop with power problems also.

The laptop won’t power up. The right light lights up blue for a split second then shuts right back off It does the same thing with either the adapter or the battery.

The battery still will charge while the adapter is plugged into the laptop which is what’s confusing me. I don’t know if the problem is from the adapter or the laptop’s power jack.

This happens randomly. It will work for a couple days then? happens again.
Any ideas? Thanks

I had to take in? my Gateway NV5214u laptop in for repairs 3 times for power related problems. Never buying a Gateway again. Also, I will be reluctant to go to Best Buy as well, since their customer service (dealing with repairs) is poor, or at least at my local Best Buy.

Seriously, The power jack I have for my NV52 Gateway broke again ( the rod and for the 2nd time) So I had to dissassemble the ENTIRE thing to straighten, then reassemble. Finally, I guess I have to be careful with not unplugging it. Sheesh. The first time I got it broke it cost me 200 bucks! I’m saving? fr a macbook F*** this computer

its a factory defect? wtih the NV52s powerjack, i have 2 NV52s both powerjacks broke with the same week
