Thank you for your thorough documentation of each item. I really liked that.

I just read your article from 2009 about your mobile desktop set-up. It was very good. The section about E-readers, that hasn’t changed much despite passage of time.

P.S. I second the "Yay Emacs!" sentiment. I used it in 2004 with vi and UNIX. I had a great cheat sheet that was never comprehensive enough…

Not sure whether this is in time but I saw a great tip the other day; rather than take an alarm clock, take a timer with a good range. This way you can set it for n hours of sleep, after all you have the watch for the time, right?

you’ll wish you had wheels and a drag handle on the backpack. they have them with wheels now. so much easier to get around, in and out of taxi’s etc. your shoulders will be killing you if you have to walk around looking for a hotel with everything on your back. else, you got it.

Excellent packing! Light and easy and lots of plastic to put wet things in! You are likely to buy some lightweight long sleeved shirts while you are there to ensure Wat entry. No laptop? No worries, there are internet spots everywhere in Thailand for cheap…not as many in Cambodia or Laos, but you’ll get by.

OH I’m so pea-green with envy!
