Zune 30gb fix/solution if it won’t start/boot up (not frozen)

This is how I fixed my 30gb Zune (1st generation). It’s not a frozen Zune like other people have experienced. It’ll just restart over and over and it won’t boot up. So replace the battery. I bought a replacement battery on ebay for . Hope this helps someone. Edit: Before buying the new battery, I first tried unplugging the original battery for 1 minute and then plugging it back in, in the hope that it would reset the zune, but that didn’t work for me. These 1st generation zunes are so old that they need new batteries after many years of recharging and discharging after regular daily use. It seems that if the battery goes bad, then it won’t allow the zune to boot up.

I’m glad that you found it useful. Good luck on getting? yours back working!
So this same problem just happened to me after buying it in 2007 its doing the same shit as yours and i was like whats wrong with it i? am so glad u did this video because i thought i was alone it happened like 3 days ago and i will most deff go and buy a another battery off line because thats amazing it worked ..my poor zune i hope i can find another battery ..thanks so much
either a newer zune, or a used but good condition? ipod. Sorry for the bad news.
try your luck there. That’s what I would do if plugging in the old battery brings back the battery symbol on the? screen. If not, replacing the motherboard might not make sense since they are a bit more expensive and there is no guarantee that it’s the problem. Unfortunately, you might have a zune that has just lasted as long as it could and there is no cheap repair. It might be time for an upgrade to a newer one. If nothing pans out, I would look on ebay for a used but working mp3 player,
then, that would not allow anything to boot up at all, I think. There is the possibility that the new battery is bad too. If the seller you bought it from had it lying around in storage for a long time without using it, then that could potentially make the battery go bad and stop working before. Try plugging in the old battery again, see if that brings up the battery symbol again. If it does then it MIGHT be? that you have 2 bad batteries in front of you. You could try buying a 3rd battery and
Well, if the battery replacement did nothing for you, then maybe the problem is somewhere else, like maybe the motherboard. In my experience, I have found that if replacing the battery does nothing, then maybe it’s a loss cause. The battery will eventually lose it’s ability to hold a charge? so it will need to be replaced, just like any other electronic device with a rechargeable battery. But if changing the battery doesn’t fix it, then maybe it’s the motherboard. If the motherboard stops working
yo! deadgodanubis! i bought a? new battery replaced the old one and still wont boot up! it dsnt show the battery symbol anymore it jus goes blank??? do you or anyone else know how to fix this??
Try these steps and see if any of them? help. Let me know how it goes.
To do a full format including the firmware, you need to push and hold the back arrow button + center button + left button. That should delete everything. Then IF that works, you would plug it in again to the software and download and update the firmware and then you would need to add your music, pictures, videos? again. If none of this works, I’m not sure what more you can do as these steps SHOULD fix the problem since you would be starting over as if it’s brand new out of the box.
That is very strange. It seems that the music and other content is still there, you just can’t access it. What you can do is try a firmware update first. Open zune software on computer, plug in zune, wait for the zune to show up on software. Then? click on Settings, then go to Device, then device update or player update. That should check if you have the latest firmware on the zune. If that doesn’t help, maybe a complete format/erase of everything (including firmware) on the zune might help.
Oh and this includes? my pictures and videos as well and instead of having a zune background I still have the one I had before this happen so its there @!!
I dont care on restoring all the songs back on one by? one but the problem is that its not showing songs on the zune software so I have no way in deleting the songs that I cant hear, How do you upgrade the firmware and the software is up to date. =/
Yes the? Zune does turn on and all the songs I had does not show. I did try to reset it now three times and no luck. Only show the song I re put thinking that all the songs got deleted, That’s how I notice that I have no space I thought the reason that was happening was because all the songs got deleted.
I’ve never experienced this error. Since you already erased your music, you can try a complete format which would erase everything including the firmware. Press and hold the back, center and the left buttons and? it should delete everything as well as the firmware. Make sure you have the latest zune software on your computer, or download the latest from the zune website. Then plug into your computer and follow the steps to update. See if that helps. Hopefully it does.
Does the zune come on and it shows zero songs on it?? To reset the zune you press the back and the up buttons, it should reset it to begin working, like after a freeze. You might also need to update either the firmware of the zune, or maybe try to download the latest update of the zune software from their website. It might also help to reinstall the drivers on your computer. Try plugging the zune into your computer on a different usb port as that sometimes helps reinstall the drivers. Try those.
Okay i bought i new battery? now its saying this i update it and i get a update error and the code is C00D124F can u help me out and it says to delete some stuff (i deleted my music) and it stills does the damn same -_- please can u help me? please?
I have had my zune forever now but unlike the battery situation I am having a complete different problem. I had a good amount of songs and it just froze I reset it and now its not reading any of my songs when I connect it to the computer it says I have no more space so my songs are in it still but is not letting me see it or listen to it please? someone help. I prefer zune over any……
Thanks!?
The battery will eventually give out depending how much you use the Zune. But now you? will know what to do. Happy you liked the video!
Thank you very? much for posting this video. My beloved Zune is starting acting up. At least I know what to do when it won’t turn on at all anymore. I did a practice run. Very easy. Thanks again.
Glad you liked it!?
thanks for the? video! you did an excellent job walking through the steps to replace the battery.
That’s great! I’m happy you fixed it yourself! Eventually when you do need to replace the battery, you will already know? how to do it!
Thank you for your detailed instructions on opening the Zune. I was able to fix my bricked Zune (it wouldn’t even give me any battery symbol, just a black screen and nothing.) I just? had to remove the battery and put it back in and that fixed it.
A total shutdown is always the better option because it completely turns it off. The other way is a sleep mode that keeps draining power so that it can wake up instantly when you hit that button. On these zunes, it seems that most problems can be? traced to replacing the battery. If chaning the battery doesn’t fix the zune, it could be the hard drive but that is more expensive and might not be worth it. Happy you liked the video.
