MacBook Pro 13″ 2010 Hard Drive Upgrade Tutorial
Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. Thank you for changing our technology, our culture, and the world for the better. www.youtube.com I had to fast-forward parts of video, to skip the tedious parts (unscrewing, re-screwing). I think I covered everything in the video, but if you have any questions, leave a comment. BTW, the hard drive replacement seemed to have cut my battery life by about 3 hours. This is a major downgrade to me, personally, even at the slight performance increase, so purchase this hard drive at your own risk. The main point of the video is to show the actual physical steps for the replacement. Disclaimer: Please read Apple’s warranty. Any damage you cause to your system is your own responsibility. Go to (other world computing) They have every thing you need I would recommend a (DIY kit) because it comes with a tool kit and a? inclosed case for your old hard drive.
? Here are the spec for a mid 2010 13” (2.5”) hard drives
Yes it does support a 1TB hard dive and the highest gig’s of Ram you can put in is (8gig’s)
Note don’t try and put (16gig’s) of Ram in a mid 2010 13” it won’t Read the chips
I bought a harddrive that is 15 mm thick. Is it too thick or? does it fit?
TORX not Torque… those screws are NOT phillips? Heads…
my macbook is? originally leopard and now running osx lion, with the time machine restoration, will it also run lion or go back to osx leopard? thank you.
great stuff, so i can start changing my Hd? and upgrade RAM, that looked precise and comprehensive. thank you
duke, actually you don’t need to open the macbook to find the lost data. just? use wondershare data recovery for mac.
Great! Video. I installed? upgraded hd and ram. Thank you
My hard disk? is not showing up in disk utility?
I have a question, I have the MBP 13″ mid 2010, do you know what? hard drive does this model support? I mean can I have for example a 1TB hard drive on this model?
No need for torque screwdriver, all you have to do is tap the torque screws with a? hammer twice and then you can just use a philips screwdriver to remove them, and hey, if you damage the hard dive it shouldn’t matter because your going to throw it away anyway
great tutorial,, simple but precise!?
i? think you put the third screw in the wrong place… might wana check that
Usually an ssd makes the battery time go? up… No spinning disk = less power
Thanks. It was very helpful not to? hurt the Mac Pro while replacing the HDD.
thanks? for this. btw can you post the screw driver and torx that you used, i just want to buy the number of the tool since i have some of them.
what did you change your harddrive? i mean its still 500Gb only. it get get any less cant it??
The hit to ssd will be minor like 5 or 10 mins less. But, if you go for normal 7200rpm hd then the hit? is major and can be noticed
@JaymarkTech Is there a? way to check if the upgraded hard drive will cause a hit to battery power? I am thinking about upgrading to a solid state drive for my MacBook Pro but I do not want to undercut my great battery life. Thank you for the video.
The proper ESD? protection using grounded ESD mat and wristband during the gears repairing is highly recommended. You never know and its really easy and cheap to? get it. In my case I am using Professional grade 60x40cm mat complete set for $25 made by Ourednik Technology. Antislip, rugged and works? perfect anywhere even in the kitchen. (ordered at ourednik@fastem.com)
I do not put my electronics and parts into electrostatic/ESD shock risk anymore.
Finally thank You for nice video.
M.
should you move all ur stuff? to a disc before installing a new hard drive?
what are the tools called? again?
Time? machine!
How do? you migrate your info from old drive to new drive?
Thanks a lot -? really helped!!
