so on friday… mid conference call. I hear our "lovely" neighbor downstairs… mind you its in the middle of the afternoon screaming… and I open up my front door to a pitch black wall of smoke… I grabbed my laptop and bolted down the stairs… Ran into said neighbor on the landing (I live on the 3rd floor) he was wearing boxers and holding his two kids…a four year old and his 8 month old… I grabbed the baby from him and went out the front… luckily the fire dept was there in about 3 minutes and our appartment didnt burn… however we have MASSIVE smoke damage… Everything we can’t wipe down is going to have to go… most of our clothes seem to be ok after washing… and my work gear (CAMERA!!!) seem to be ok so far.

D was at work at the time and we both are in a bit of shock… we’re staying with friends while the dust settles and we decide what to do. Apparently the fire started… as a result of our genious neighbor sleeping… His 4 year old was playing with a lit CANDLE on their bed…

Lesson #1: renters insurance? must have… wishing we had it :-p now we have it… a day late :-p

Lesson #2: Find some way to ensure that your RETARDED neighbors replace batteries on their $ &*#!^& SMOKE detectors…

De and I are bigger than this… and something good will come from it :) thanks for all the support and well wishes.
