LGR – Compaq Contura Aero 4/33c MS-DOS Laptop Overview
Before the netbooks of today, there was a subcompact laptop computer that was rather impressive, the Contura Aero from Compaq. This is just an overview of the system and its features, showing how it runs and what it is (or is not) capable of. Tetris Crystal Caves Epic Pinball Sorry there’s not more game footage, camera is acting up like mad and as such the frame rate was a bit choppy.

It’s okay, my thing is usually dangling out when I’m at? my computer anyway.
“The in style of useless computers”
Lol’d?
I imagine? the screen is fine for work related things.
BOARDS? OF CANADA.
YES.
@ 3:23? i think thats a USB port, but idk
This computer looks like the one in the opening fmv for Tomb Raider 1 when lara was talking to Natla? on the laptop. It looks just like it!
jazz jack rabbit – background? music FTW!
I think it looks great, and for the time it must have been freaking? awesome. And I bet it would have costed some serious money and wasn’t aimed at any sort of game-playing target audience. What’s the point of playing games on a computer with only PC-speaker sound capabilities — in the 90′s? The 486 processor would have made it pretty competent for business desktop use, including graphs of all sorts, I guess.
but can it run? crysis?
I don’t get why you’re going on about the? “proprietary” port on the back.
It’s the same as if you started ranting about the dock connector on a modern laptop.
IE. The port you’re carrying on about is the dock port and for nothing else.
Boards of Canada T-Shirt > Compaq Contura Aero? 4/33c MS-DOS Laptop
I guess it was meant to use not for gaming but for office activities, like word, excel, etc. But i think, at that time, it was a great technological achievement, and inspired the new notebook size? laptops, which are now more functional because we have fast internet, and the drives are not completely necesary
This thing was freakin’ godlike! I remember my dad had one? back in the day.
02:47 Where did you pick those old? huge keys?
Is that the Jazz Jackrabbit soundtrack in? the background?
I know I don’t like my? things dangling around all floppy like.
Oh the memories the good old? days of early PCs
Yeah that proprietary cable thing is a real hilarious thing right? I had some ports like that on my last HP laptop and they did? the same thing with the PSP, however they put out a new PSP …that takes totally different cables in EVERY port.
What song is that in the background?
?
Why don’t I hear any sound in Epic Pinball after you dock the computer into the base unit and? use the external screen?
Oh, i accidentally skipped the part with? the FDD
The? giant key store, natch. Also, castle trolls.
Did you watch the whole video? Because there is an? entire section of it where I talk about its unique floppy drive.
What about the? floppy drive; where is it?
