@Ovson. Pretty damned robust- it's machined out of a block of aluminum. Probably a bit expensive and not waterproof (not a concern in the desert) for constant field use (this is my own laptop). The panasonic toughbooks are good but I found the screens hard to view in daylight. I want to try and get one of these working as a survey laptop: laptop.org/en/laptop/index.shtml I've had a play with one and the daylight screen kicks arse. Just need to be cleverer at writing code....

Re the photo notes – Ah yes, but how robust is it???? We still stick to the slow and clunky ruggadised panasonic. recently had a "ruggadised" dell that failed at the first glass of wine spilled over the keyboard!
