How to take apart Sony Vaio VGN-NW25GF/P and reapply CPU thermal paste
INFO: ———– Disclaimer: Opening your computer can void the warranty. I cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to any computer that has been taken apart using my video. Perform at your own risk and with caution. ———– This video goes through the process I took to take apart my friends Sony Vaio VGN-NW25GF/P laptop, clean it, apply new thermal paste to it and reassemble it. This is not the official way to do it. It was my first time taking apart his laptop, so some of the steps may not be in the best order. I decided to make this video because I could not find a disassembly video for this model of laptop. Also, I watched another video on Youtube which help me to disassemble a HP laptop a while back, so I decided to contribute something back and hopefully help some people

I suggest you try looking in your user manual to see what the blinking orange light means. You can also try? contacting Sony Support. Just email them you problem, but give them more information, e.g. what you did before these problems starting happening, what steps you’ve tried to fix them, etc. They should be able to troubleshoot this with you.
I’m sorry I can’t be of more help but this was my first time working on a Sony laptop, so I don’t have much experience with this.
Nope sorry :p and you’re welcome, I’m glad the video? was helpful ^^. And sorry about the late reply, the new Youtube layout is horrible.It doesn’t show inbox alerts on the homepage like it used to in the previous version, so I have to manually click a few times to get into my inbox to see messages -.-;

Hi, I can’t help you sorry, I have absolutely no? idea on that issue. Your best bet would probably be to Google around a bit.
Hello,
I have a vaio vgn-nr11z .
The DC power plug broke,so i got one? on ebay (about seven pounds) and replaced it,big job as you know, when i went to plug it in i found the centre pin was moving around,(it was borke),
antway what i want to know is, can i replace this plug with any other?
there is about five sites on ebay selling these plugs for 120 pounds sterling,i cannot get my head round this.
many thanks barry.
Okay
?
Thanks
Only if it doesn’t leave a big gap and still makes contact with the heatsink. If there was? thermal tape there in the first place, it’s better to use new thermal tape or reuse the old tape if you haven’t got any new tape. If there was thermal paste there, then yeah sure, clean off the old stuff and apply some new paste.
Hi
Can i apply the thermal paste? to the gpu?
Can confirm that. The Thermal Paste it’s too thin and the heatsink plate doesn’t touch it.?
I ordered some thermal tape, i will inform all of you if i succeed.
Hi, ah you could try your fingernails or use something that won’t scratch the surface of the CPU. The thermal paste on the laptop in the video was also quite hard and? I just used my finger nail to pick it off.
man, any advice? on how to remove the thermal paste that is very hard like a stone?
i used isopropyl alcohol and could not
You’re welcome,? I’m glad it was helpful.
thanks a lot!!! i? have the same laptop
Considering the thickness of the thermal tape, you’d need to put a decent amount of the paste on for it to make contact with the heatsink. As a precaution I decided not to put thermal paste on the GPU and reuse the old thermal tape, because? I was worried the thermal paste might run when it gets heated up.
I don’t know? sorry.
hello, can i do same on VPCf22l1e ? I have been looking around? for a while, could not find it. All looks very similair from outside.
hey man my DC power Jack is working from time to time … u know u have to play with? it to? work.. so i decide to open it… sooo i put everything together and my laptop dont want to start now… green light on the side works for 2 seconds and then just shouts down :S any suggestions i have sony vaio vgn-fw455d
Hi, I’m not too sure since everything was working fine after I cleaned the laptop and tested it. See if it’s a software issue or hardware issue. Check your sound isn’t muted and try the? other USB ports. You can also try a system restore to fix it if it’s software related. If it’s a hardware problem, then it depends how you cleaned the dust on the inside of the laptop. You might have damaged something…
Hi…I did the same as you did…but? my sound and usb drives stopped working. What do I do?
Hi, I’m not really sure since I can’t see your laptop, but I guess a long as you replace any old thermal paste? that you remove with new thermal paste, then it should be ok.
In this video, the CPU has thermal paste on it, and the GPU and motherboard chipset has thermal tape, because there is a bigger gap between them and the heatsink.
You could download and install Speedfan to see what is actually causing most of the heat.
The strap I have is suppose to be one of those “wireless” ones. I actually have no idea if it works or not lol, but in the last five years I haven’t killed anything with static. I didn’t really like those ones with the cord because they get in the way and it’s just frustrating. If it makes? you feel better, I was resting my feet on the metal frame of the desk, just for a backup
