I actually have no idea if it works or not lol, but in the last five years I haven’t killed anything with static. I didn’t really like those ones with the cord because they get in the way and it’s just frustrating. If it makes? you feel better, I was resting my feet on the metal frame of the desk, just for a backup :)

In this video, the CPU has thermal paste on it, and the GPU and motherboard chipset has thermal tape, because there is a bigger gap between them and the heatsink.

You could download and install Speedfan to see what is actually causing most of the heat.

See if it’s a software issue or hardware issue. Check your sound isn’t muted and try the? other USB ports. You can also try a system restore to fix it if it’s software related. If it’s a hardware problem, then it depends how you cleaned the dust on the inside of the laptop. You might have damaged something…

As a precaution I decided not to put thermal paste on the GPU and reuse the old thermal tape, because? I was worried the thermal paste might run when it gets heated up.
