Timex Watch Battery Latch removal and replacement Ironman, Expedition, etc.
Here is how you remove a timex watch battery latch that does not have a screw. The video is a little dark but when it comes time to take off the latch you get a clear shot of it. Please post your watch model so others can easily find this video. Thank you! A commenter noted that “if you put the backplate on in the wrong orientation, the watch will not beep when it’s supposed to. The text should be facing up so that the? top of the text is right-side up if you flip it over right to left (as opposed to a coin where text is right side up if you flip bottom to top). Found this one out the hard way.” If you are interested? in what I used to make it waterproof again, I used a can of silicone spray (like you would get at a car parts store) Put a little bit into a bottle cap and then used a small screwdriver to dip it in the silicone and then dab it around on both sides of the o-ring. I am sure you could probably take the o-ring out and use your fingers or a qtip to spread it as well. Here are some of the watches that use this latch (please post your watch type to help others) -T5E411 Ironman Triathlon Sleek 75 Lap OVA Sports Watch -Timex Expedition – Ironman 30-Lap T5K268UM – old T54281 – Ironman Triathlon Fitness Monitor (comes with a HR monitor) – Timex Marathon T5E311 A commenter noted that “if you put the backplate on in the wrong orientation, the watch will not beep when it’s supposed to. This is great…except you don’t show or share how? to remove the Stainless Steel Caseback, at least this is what is on the Timex Ironman 30 lap. That is the real challenge and you skipped right over that so I continue my search.
my watch is a Timex Expedition Realtree Vibration Alarm. It doesnt have that red transparency? covering the battery
I thought my battery had to be replaced. But when I popped the latch following these instructions, the watch buzed.? So it seems I needed to “reset” it rather than replace it. Whatever. The watch works again!
Thank you so much for your video – it was a great help.?
Thanks! I wasn’t quite sure how to proceed and this video showed? me exactly what I needed to do. Now my wife thinks I’m her hero! Thanks again.
Worked for my Timex Ironman. Thanks! I did not have to “short” any “pads” to get my watch to reset (as the? sticker on my dead battery said). Worked fine as soon as I put the latch back on.
Strong work, sir. Just used this? to replace the battery on my wife’s Ironman watch. Thanks for the help!!
Thanks for answering! There’s no button. The red sticker is? pointing to an oval hole, at the bottom of which are 2 round contacts… Hmmm…
Sorry SingweeTube but I have no idea. When I replaced the battery on mine I had no issues regarding a reset. However, I would take it apart again and see if there is a small reset button or “tab” that may be hanging over the battery or off to the side.? Take a look and try pressing it. Good luck.
Pt 2: Internet search came up with nothing for this code, and I’m wondering if it’s because I didn’t reset it like it said to, or maybe after 15 years it’s time for a new? one?
Thanks – this works on my 15-year-old (seriously!) watch – the older version of the Timex Ironman 30-Lap T5K409 – gone through a lot of battery and strap replacements
My question is how to “short reset pad/vdd(+)” (according to the little red sticker over the latch). After the most recent battery change (myself), my watch now tends? to fade in and out (I have to tap the screen sometimes to see the time), and every once in a while it completely resets after showing an error code “85 40 04 30.”
I’ve been doing this a? long time but never figured out how to get the latch off without bending until this video. Thanks!
OMG, that? was soooooo friggin helpful!
And in addition to thinking of making the video, you titled it very well.
Thanks. The? video was a great help!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I? would have never figured this out on my own!!
Thanks man! ? This helped as I try to replace the battery myself! =)
Thanks!
?
Sure? thing and thank you for posting up your watch model, I have added it to the description.
This works on Timex Marathon T5E311 as well! THANK YOU!?
Thank you for doing this, it was very helpful!!?
Thanks fuzzwarmy. ?
FYI: My Timex Expedition (I think it’s the “Classic”)? is not like the watch in the video. It only has one arrowhead and no pinhole. I don’t see a way to remove the battery without unscrewing internal screws.
There are 4 screws on the back of the watch. Have? you removed the strap to reveal the screws?
Thank You. Verry nice. I have a Problem with my Expedition.? How to open the Watch? The German Servicecenter sent back my Packeckege.
