I have a SU1000inet (beige) for which I purchased a brand new official replacement battery cart from apc. Originally purchased from ebay with a 'new battery' which lasted just a few months before giving out. Replaced with an official APC one and has been running for years now and still giving 40 minutes? run time for my 2 boxes. Its been very reliable for me. Well worth the money spent id say! Perhaos I should video my setup some time.

I've got two of those...one a 750XL and the other a 1500 just like that one. Both are now 10+ years old...other than batteries (two sets for the 750, three for the 1500), their performance has been flawless. Both are US made.

If you install a management card, watch that the connector doesn't fall into the unit. One of mine did that!

These do have a disconnect function...IIRC? you have to turn them off, unplug the power and hold down the 0 button until a click is heard.

This 1500 was made in the Philippines. For the disconnect, were you referring to the old beige ones? The black ones? have the actual plug on the back.

One thing I'd like to know, is which cards work in which units. I'm not sure if all Smartslot cards are compatible with all units, because I've never used one. I think I need an AP9617?

The only ones I've had trouble with are the Chinese made units. All others seem OK. The disconnect is actually in addition to the physical plug at the back on the black unit. It also appears to be on a timer...after about? fifteen minutes or so, the microcontroller will shut itself down in the same way.

You can use the newer cards and at least as far back as an AP9605/06...I'm using that in a SmartUPS 2200.

The only thing to look out for? Cards that have been flashed with the firmware for a Matrix UPS, Symmetra (sp?) or power distribution unit.? They can be reflashed to SmartUPS firmware, although I had to do that over a serial link at 2400bps for the base firmware (AOS).
