We reflow the video chip with a ACHI Dark IR station, its a lot like other BGA rework stations but its a lot less stressful on the BGA video and parts. Since the Nvidia chips seem to be at fault, can a different brand chip be installed? in the xps m1530?
I found a seller on Amazon has repair kits capacitors, this is the cheapest I found on? the net. His seller name is Procacitor? He also makes custom kits, you only? have? to ask him

Hey guys, big thanks, I’m about to attempt a reflow on my? dell xps m1530. One question, when you apply the flux, did you pour it between the gpu and mainboard or just over the top?
Battery is bad, take it out and see if it boots. If not the battery is bad and the? video chip.

Could you specify where to place the copper shims, and? what thermal paste would you recommend. thank you!!! I dont know the terminology so please describe as simply as possible, if not much to ask! Thanks again
Can? you make a full reflow tutorial, explaining what temp should I set the reflow machine and the time.
The black tape is to prevent any? shorting from happening since he is adding a copper shim which is highly conductive. If the copper were to touch any part on the board, there would be a short and the motherboard may not work. I hope that helps. Just remember that the whole point to dissipate as much heat as possible very quickly to prevent the video card from overheating. Take care!

Mixcat, I just ran into the same black screen issue for my computer. Before that, every once in a while it would hard lock, I think it was also due to issues with the video card. Do you think that doing the reflow? would possibly cure that as well?

My xps 1530 turns on but doesnt have any video.Also the battery indicator blinks orange 4 times and blue once.Any idea what that might be??

hi, i have the same laptop and whenever i play heavy games then the GPU temp. reaches above 90 and it shuts down itself. do u think this can be repaired by cleaning and putting thermal paste? and why did u put that black tape around the chip? your reply will be highly? appreciated. thanks.
have a question for you mixcatcom how do you go about reflowing a gtx 580 video card i tried the hot air reflow method and it didnt work at all the problem is the horizontal pixel lines on my screen,and is this something you? could fix and how much would it cost for you to fix it please respond thankyou.

Try? to flash the bios and see if that fixes it.. If not you might need to replace it.

Beware! $125 is not the flat rate for this service. After paying for shipping to their location, I was told that this was indeed my problem? but they’d need $144.45 to repair. When I asked why the response was that my board was an “upgraded” board. In the terms and? conditions email it mentions that upgraded boards would be $135, which would have been fine. Also, a disc was stuck in the drive, which I mentioned in my email and with a sticky note but it was not returned with the laptop as I asked.
