Dell Inspiron n5010 Hard Drive Removal
In this video I remove the hard drive from a Dell Inspiron n5010. Please send me a message or check out www.FastVideoTech.com If you plan on working on your laptop, please take notes and take your time. This video makes things look very easy. Some connectors will fall apart easier than they will disconnect and can take several minutes to slowly work apart. It is VERY easy to break small components that are expensive to replace. Depending on your individual skill level you may have more of a chance of breaking something than fixing something so if your laptop is important to you, please let an experienced technician handle it. I have over 10 years experience working with computers. I will try my best to answer questions but please keep them related to the video and the work being done. Thank you for watching! I have that EXACT same model. I am a mobile DJ and I use this computer with a software. I want to upgrade the drive from 283gb to 500gb. I would do it myself but Im only 15 and have NEVER done this and my dad would kill me. Would it be possible for me to upgrade the RAM from a 3gb to 6 or 8gb? I also wanna upgrade? my processor from i3 to i5 or i7 if possible. Would I b able to?
Dell designers are scoundrels. Just? so that a consumer takes it to a service center and they can make money!
Good video, but too fast. I did the same thing. The old drive was a Seagate Momentus 5400.6. Excuse me for fault finding:
Errors in this video
1) NO need to remove the RAM modules!
2) No need to remove the Optical drive!
3) He should have mentioned that the 4 HDD holding crews are smaller in length: all others are exactly the same.
4) Proper? skills and patience required to pry out the palm rest. Use a strong plastic scribe. Don’t do it in a hurry
*I do not work? in a Dell service center.
great? video – thanks
but what an idiot at Dell designed this laptop this way…
Great video.
And people moaning about the take apart, it’s? really not that bad. It’s no iBook thats for sure.
Excelente vídeo, parabéns !!!?
I think you missed a one or two damns, a few shits and one more? fuck but I definitely feel your pain though.
100% laptop disassembe to clean the fan
that is more? ridiculous !
sry for bad english !
very? stupid design just for money
In case you have trouble detaching the keyboard. In my case the keyboard was also glued with two pieces of white double-sided tape to the metal frame. This was very sticky tape, so I had to pry it loose with a long screwdriver and be careful not to damage the keyboard. This is after? unlocking the four small locks that keep the keyboard in place.
Big thanks!? It helped me!
worse,? money grubbers
the toshiba hard drives sucks. my orignal was a toshiba. go order a dell 350 gb one on? dell .com for 60 bucks.. its reliable
really it was a good video,i want to clear one doubt, i? can open the keypad the 4 lock, but key pad can’t remove why it is so?

Thanks for vid… extremly usefull. All the best from Serbia
OK, did this without the video and my mouse pad does not work. I wonder which ribbon cable and where?
Also if you pop off key? while doing this your are #$@!@#%%^&. Lost my end key. Also all the screws are not the same size.
Don’t feel my fan running anymore.
Its’s designed so that you will not? attempt it yourself but in stead take it to Dell to repair. It’s to make money simple as that.
i have an asus and all you need is to remove the cover with a single screw. I am trying to get a hdd from a dell 5010? but upon seeing that i need to disassemble the entire of device, i just give up.
Who designed this, monkeys? I will NEVER own a dell
?
