Indeed, it was a juxtaposition — perhaps more than you were aware: both pictures were taken at the same corner, just seconds apart. The young woman and older woman actually passed each other in the street, but it didn’t occur to me at the time to photograph both of them together. I had actually taken several pictures of the older woman from a different perspective, while she was waiting at the corner for the light to change…

She was crossing right to left at a fast and youthful pace and needed no support (in more ways than one). In this picture the lady is crossing left to right at a slow pace and appears to need the support of the cart. It just hit me that it was a clever juxtaposition of the two images.
