How to Make a USB solar Charger for [mp3 players] and Junk.
Yyyeyp…. pretty much what it says. Oh.. I think I might write something over here… just copy it from the video.
its not THAT hard…

Why did you need to double the ampridge?? also thank you for posting this vid!!!
you sir are awesome? omw to succes
can? i add a battery to this great scheme ?
“silly USB junk”? lol
one more question: so i finally got all things soldered correctly, checked voltage with multimeter on all stages, and it’s 5 and more volts in daylight and 6 – 6.2 volts in the sunlight. when i connect my phone to the charger, it shows that it charges it, but after some time, the phone dies=( why can it happen? (my solar panel is 6 V and 200 mA)?
oookay:) i will continue practicing?
It takes varying amounts of? time to heat different things to the melting temperature of the solder. Ya. practice will give you a better feel for it.
……and there’s a 2 year old attacking me!
yeah….practice) the solder just doesn’t want to move where i want it to move and i have big drops of solder. i got a solar panel on ebay, its back looks sort of like this (upload.ecvv.com/upload/Product/20126/China_2_pcs_lot_6V_200mA_109_84MM_polycrystalline_solar_panel_solar_cell_for_mobile_charge2012691503379 .jpg) it took a? while for solder to stick to the panel to those round spots (for “+” and “-”) do you know why is it so?
Heat them up with the soldering iron, and touch the solder to them.
It takes a bit of practice, but isn’t hard once you’ve done? it a few times.
Hi. i am trying to make a solar cell phone charger myself.? i never soldered anything and am wondering how to solder the little bitty wires that come from the USB connector to actual wires. did you glue them? your help is greatly appreciated! (if anyone else here knows how to do it, please respond to this comment!!!!!!
If you put a diode between? the panel and the USB port, it should not discharge your battery.
This engineer from site called? Youtube, give to us free no fees! Done!
does? the USB connector thing have four pins?
Thanks for the? info! That’s really useful.
Just a little update for people I pulled from a build a usb charger article!
USB 1.0 and 2.0 specs, a standard downstream port is capable of delivering up to 500mA (0.5A); in USB 3.0, it moves up to 900mA? (0.9A). The charging downstream and dedicated charging ports provide up to 1500mA (1.5A).
soooo more than 500mA is recommended and no it will not blow up your electronics!

But your panels Amperage is too low. Its a trade-off higher voltage =? lower amperage per panel size.
Yes you need to build a transformer to up the voltage. But you will loose amperage? for it.
That’s the problem with solar panels they will actually discharge your battery if they don’t get enough light.
I wanna do this and show it to all the science? teachers
or I Just got mines from ebay lol!! but nice upload…..I always wondered to know how? to make these for in these times a solar powerd charger is a MUST!!!
Hey man? I need some help with my solar charger…plz…
I wanna find a good tutorial on how to have a backup battery in line with the solar panel so it can hold a charge. I? wouldn’t think the voltage is reliable off a solar panel. I guess that’s why you would have a regulator though.
well i have a 5v solar panel 400Ma and 2 watts of power is? that good enough
Hey I’m building it and I have a question.? Will 84 milliamps work?
You? are awesome!
im pretty sure? theres no such thing as a fifth generation ipod!?
