Very good video. I just finished cleaning the heatsink of my L501X and this video was very helpful. My L501X’s heatsink was full of dust after 2 years and the idle temperature of? the CPU was sitting at 93C. When the laptop first spontaneously shut down I knew there was a temperature problem and it was time to act.
Excellent…very cool…calm…and easy to follow. Thanks man..a whole lot. Fixed my AC? adapter using this.
Why i? cant boot my laptop after doing this in right way. Ive changed cmos battery. And still nothing
Its integrated onto the motherboard, no? way to change it out :/ Yes you can upgrade the CPU though. I have an i7 2720qm in mine, and its fast and great, however the laptop doesnt stay very cool. I have it super clean, and great thermal paste, and it idles around 55C and can get to 93 under full CPU load. It’s normal for this laptop though. They should have just made a better heatsink
I like the video, just a question. My laptop has been getting video issues so I know that its the nvidia graphic card. Is there a way? to replace it? Or is it entirely integrated into the motherboard itself? Also is it possible upgrade the processor?
I tried this and my usb ports? are not working now. Please assist!
I have the exact same problem and read about the cheap thermal paste used, could you tell me if it? worked?
Thank you very much for? this helpful video!!
Awesome? video, thanks!
thanks man! my l502x is overheating and i think it is the thermal glue. i will figure out i guess
i use it to play games while on the go. its running at 50* C on idle so…..it has to? be the thermal glue. i have some arctic silver that i will be using.
What is the easiest way to access and clean the cooling system? My processor is running on 50°- 60° celsius just browsing the internet. It heats up to 90° — 99° celsius with plain old world of warcraft
I’m asking because I don’t really know what components you removed to show us and which ones were necessary to remove, from example I don’t dare to remove my screen, and even the palmrest is making me uneasy. I’ve opened and? cleaned other notebooks but all I had to do was unscrew the bottom
Thank
Thanks Daniel,
I had the exact “fried Motherboard” that you talk about, bought an exact match motherboard on eBay, followed your instructions, new Silver Paste (very carefully), and everything works perfectly! I realize this isn’t for everyone, I, too, have done computers and electronics since high school plus my job is related as well. So, “go very carefully” is the? watchword.
Hello, I wanted to? know if it is possible to clean the fan without having to remove the palmrest and screen, and what is the easiest way to clean the fan. I believe mine has too much dust in it since the cores are running on 50-60°C on idle.
Thanks.
Thanks alot- I was able to replace the power connector, And with out this video I think I would of broke the computer! You helped alot, ? Good Work
My laptop usb port doesn’t work right now, what do you recommend to change in the laptop. I’m? not a technician just a college student
Please help me
the size of? a pee
I have the l502x model. The first time I opened the laptop to clean it i messed up the thermal pad for the GPU, I put thermal paste, but i decided that i should put some thermal pad back on. Does anyone have any idea what thickness that thermal pad? should have? I’ve found from 0.3 mm to 2 mm and don’t know what kind to get.
I had exactly the same problem with my XPS L501X motherboard. Followed the instructions changed my motherboard. Working fine now.DELL part number for this motherboard is C9RHD. Around $220-$250 depending on the seller. If anyone wants any help? i am ready to help you with this L501X MODEL. Thanks again for danman for this video.Great Help…
Thanks dude…..Thanks a lot……. truely nice video and the right information? in the right manner awesome thanks…..!!!!
If I want to access to the fan to? clean it, is there a way to do it without disassembling it all?
great video! Looks harder than it realy is. I only ran into 1 problem. My dvd drive cant come out because the screw is sooo tight and i think ive tried so hard the medal around the middle? is turning into a circle so im not sure how to get this screw out. Any recommedations where i can get this screw removed its damaged like that? Besides that the video is very easy to follow.
great job!
thanks man ! i have just finished putting it back together and it work properly
now my fan is all clean and it looks like brand new
? thanks again ! and this is the first time i do something like this so i think every one can do it as far as they take teir time and stay gentle when disconnecting some wires
Hi could you tell me where the Graphic card goes ?? I wanna open up my laptop and just see if the connections are in place … because my laptop doesnt detect it and i checked it wasnt a software problem …
Hey man, just finished changing the thermal paste on my CPU and GPU. I’ve only performed 1 stress test, and the GPU has cooled from? load temps of 101C to 80C. I’ve used ‘Arcitc Cooling Mx-4′ as a thermal compound.
I just want to say thanks for the help provided with this video, I would have struggled without it.
continued- I’ve been playing with stuff like this as a child and know the risks involved. Sometimes it could be something small like not plugging back in the fan? cable. Then you have to take it all apart again like me lol.
