Nike missiles were anti-aircraft weapons designed to shoot down Russian bombers. They were equipped with either nuclear or conventional warheads, and hundreds of Nike batteries were deployed around major American cities from the 1950s until the early 1970s.

The aluminum case was bent wide open by the pressure. It was mounted in my laptop, and sitting in its case in my bedroom. When I went to check it, the battery looked like this. I was worried that the computer would be damaged, but it was fine. It was, however, a little hard to remove. Luckily, I had a spare battery.
