Build Yours at www.gentechpc.com (latest model GT780DX with nVidia GTX570M) The MSI GT780R just came in! We were excited to open the box and try out the unit. This is one of the few laptops we have seen that has a matte screen in a long time and we were happy to see the Dynaudio and dual exhaust features be carried over from the MSI GT683R as they were both features we really liked on the 15″ version of this laptop. The Geforce GTX560M is a very capable gpu and the Intel Core i7 2630QM is a extremely strong mobile processor. Top it off with 1TB of HDD and 16GB of RAM and you really have a fully loaded package here for a good price. The illuminated keyboard gives you an extra layer of customization and personalization and a good alternative to more expensive Alienware laptops if you really wanted that color led lit keyboard. Infact the Steelseries keyboard is better than that you can find on Alienware so this is a step forward. This is a thin and light laptop that goes head to head with the Macbook Air, though it costs a pretty penny doing so. Where to buy is.gd (this is a lesser configuration) It features an Intel Core i5 2537M CPU at 1.4 Ghz (3 MB cache), 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and an Intel GMA HD GPU. The 13.3 inch screen is matte and 1366 x 768 in resolution. There are two 3 watt speakers and SRS 3D sound. The webcam is 1.3 megapixels, and there’s a single microphone under the screen. In addition to 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0, there’s a dongle that, when attached to the side, adds Gigabit Ethernet. Video output is solely mini HDMI (no adaptor is included in the box), and in addition to microphone/headphone jack, there one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port (one is an always-on charging port). Samsung made the interesting – and wrong in my opinion – decision to go with a microSD card slot rather than a full-sized SD card slot. The laptop has an internal, non-removable 6 cell (40 wHR) battery. The laptop is 2.88 pounds (1.31 kg) and measures 12.9″ wide, 8.9″ deep, and between 0.62″ and 0.64″ thick from front to back. It features an AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 (1.6GHz, 1MB L2 Cache) and an AMD Radeon HD 6310M Discrete-Class Graphics chip for the GPU. This model I purchased from HP came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 3 GB of RAM, a 320 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, a six-cell battery, an 11.6 inch display (1366 x 768 resolution), a Webcam with integrated microphone, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth. Benchmark Website: www.notebookcheck.net Again, here is the XPS…. Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6Ghz 6 GB RAM Mobility Radeon HD 5730 FHD Screen 9 Cell Battery Black, Leather, Windows 7, etc, etc…. Just a quick look at the graphics hardware and my final opinions, especially on some of the “CONS” that most people describe for this laptop. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes the laptop gets hot, but not enough to make me stop what I am doing in order to let it cool down – In other words, it’s working great! I will show a few more things in the coming weeks, like my favorite programs, websites, and games…including the Prince of Persia (2008). Thanks for Watching!
